because the luminaires are often

perceived

ever,

at

feet this high

angle

glare

not

only creates significant visual discornfort,

but

potential

safety hazards

as

well.

Pedestrian ContraCline

A

new

concept

in

tiered

reflector

systems

which

provides

the necessary luminous

jniensity

for

wide

pole

spacings

and

unilorm distributions, but cuts the light

off

sharply at

80'

(as

rneasured

to

10%

of

maximum

candela) ensuring control

of

glare

and

light

trespass.

In

fact,

unlike

most refractor

and

vertical

lamp

fixtures,

the

Pedestrian

ContraCline

meets

the

IES

cutoft classilication

for roadway

luminaires.

AvailabLe in both a Type V

(symmetric)

distribution for area lighting

and

a Type

llt

(asymmetric)

distribut]on for

road-

way and

pathway

lighting, the

Pedestrian

Contraoline

is

the

practical

choice

for

lower

mounting height

applications.

A

new

concept

in high

performance

tiered

reflector

systems

concealed

in this

classic,

elegant form.

Distributing

Beflector

directs lighi out

in

the

60'-78'range.

Prismatic Lens/Ref

lector

is

designed

and

positioned

to

reflect and

transmit light emanating

from

the bottom

section

of

the

lamp.

Approximately

two

thirds

of

these

lumens

are

reflected

out in

lhe 67"-75" range. The remaining

light

is

transmitted down and out through the lens

ensuring

that

the

lower

portion

of

the

enclo-

sure

glows

evenly.

Reflector

72" range. An upper

cavity

in

this

reflector

ensures

a

soft

even

glow

on the

top

of

the enclosure

and

allows

access

to

the

lamp for servicing.

Parabolic Fluted Rellector

directs

light

out

at

70'.

The

"fluting"

serves to

increase arc imaging

(thus

performance)

and

insure

lhat light

is

not

redirected

back

through

the

arc

tube

(which

can cause

voltage

rise in

HPS lamps resulting

in

shortened

lamp life).

Shielding

Beflector

directs light in the

34"

-

56'range.

This

reflec-

tor also

features

a lower ledge which serves

to cut

olf light

sharply

at

80'

and

provide

fill-in

illumination

near

the

pole

in

the

7'

-

30"

range

ContraCline Optical

System

concealed

within

the

classic acorn

housing.

This

timeless

is

widely

used both

to

create

a dist

setting

as well

The

Washington

ContraCline Family

With the original Washington

ContraCline,

lvloldcast

created the

opportunity

to

provide

high

quality

area

lighting

from

the

traditiona

"acorn"

form. This

high

performance

luminaire using

HID lamps

to 400

watts,

generates

the

high light levels

public

spaces

now

require.

The new

Pedestrian

Contracline

extends

that

concept

for

small

area,

roadway,

and

pathway

illumination.

This

product

line using medium

base lamps

to

175

watts, otfers the superb

performance

and excellent brightness control

ol

its big

brother

from

a

more

compact

(and

moderately

priced)

housing.
