(Champagne Brunch, continued) Michael Bouton got everyone excited about the Far West Ski Association's June 2017 convention here in Boise. We are looking for volunteers to help with a variety of functions (hospitality room, registration, etc.). AND,

volunteers are needed for the BBSEF Ski Swap Nov 4 – 6--Jane Gabbert is your Go-To person. The casserole throw down was won by Debbie Arnhols.

She won both the people’s choice award and the secret judges’ award. Thank you to everyone who bought raffle tickets, renewed your memberships (you can do this online!), brought goodies to share with this fun group of folks, and came out to just have fun-

-we hope to see you AND those who couldn't make it this year, next year, and bring your ski friends!!! A big thank you to Kas for all of her dedication to organizing and planning this festive event, now in its 5th decade!!! Awesome job!" To see all the pics, go to www.BogusBasinSkiClub.org/photos

Far West Ski Association Convention June, 8-12, 2016 Scottsdale, AZ Eight Delegates and a representative from the Boise Convention & Visitors Bureau, attended the 84th annual convention at the Hilton Double Tree Resort in Scottsdale. Attending from the Club were; Rosie Rosco, Vicki Kuebler, Mark Barnard, Paul Markowitz, Suzette Newsome, Doug and Sue Baker, Michael Bouton, and Lisa Edens from Boise CVB.

It was a lively, wet, and hot time at the “Pool Party” where many delegates got to know one another. Many of the delegates were

returning from outside activities and were ready to get into the pool and cool off. It was the first experience for some of our delegates and they fit right in.

The Friday night activity included the famous silent auction where all are invited to bid on a package provided by ski resorts all over the west. It was a fun time watching people hover over the bid sheets. Yours truly (Michael Bouton) was on the microphone letting everyone know how much time was left. During the auction our delegates took turns letting others know about Boise and the 2017 Convention.

The rest of the Convention included the Travel Expo, Awards Luncheon, break-out sessions and the Gala Dinner. The hospitality suite was busy into the wee hours with just enough time to get ready for the “Eye Opener,” 7:00am Sunday morning. The business session began at 10:00 with a brunch followed by board elections. It was a busy 2 ½ days for our delegation. Now, it’s time to do our own planning for the 85th annual Convention being held at the Boise Centre, June 7-11, 2017. We need many volunteers to show our out-of-town visitors a terrific time. Plans are in place for rafting on the Payette River, a hot springs soak in Idaho City, a day at Bogus Basin, and a golf tournament at Quail Hollow G.C. If you are interested to being a part of this first-time ever event in Idaho, contact a BBSC Board Member for further information. It’s going to be a blast.

In Memoriam, Tim Flood’s 57 Years Tim Flood’s lifelong friendship with Bogus started long before he was president of the club. On page 65 of Eve Chandler’s, Building Bogus Basin, Tim is identified as one of the teenage boys who helped clear brush in the summer of ’49 in exchange for a ski pass.

Over the years, Tim worked tirelessly for both the club and the mountain. After his 2005/2006 club presidency, Tim worked with Bogus to give the club access to the display case in the Bogus office. 57 years of commitment to Bogus…a lifelong friendship. Thanks, Tim.

Ski Club Campout of the Year… (since there's only one) They came out of, as they say, "the woodwork….." After years of declining attendance, over 40 club members and friends helped celebrate camaraderie, nature, music around the campfire, water sports, hiking, downhill biking, horseshoe toss and a seemingly endless variety of flavorful dishes from morning through evening. Beer and spirits were on hand and surprisingly the motley crew didn't finish it all off, but made a dent. Many give a hardy thanks to Ron Graff for providing a 5 gallon container of frozen Margaritas Slushy's that stayed slushy for “three” days. Probably only a few

campers started their breakfast with a Ron slushy. Most had the experimental coffee. A thank you to

Michael Bouton for the tacos and roast beef dinners, the hot dog and wurst lunches, and

for cooking-up the eggs, sausages, bacon, hash browns and apple crisp cake for lunch. And thanks for the numerous side dishes and pastries that attendees brought

for the dinners and breakfasts. No one went to bed hungry. Morning camp fires warmed early risers (from 42° morning temps.) and nightly fires warmed all with memorable songs.

Carol Fogel, Pat Rice and good ole' Ted Hogander serenaded till sleep came like a falling veil on the black nights. Now one would think that a campout is roughing it, but with a dozen RVs and a pop-up, and with only 7 tents (one tent had a stately raised king inflatable bed

with a royal carpet for those who were honored to visit), you can imagine that the idea of roughing it means not getting good reception of Game of Thrones on your satellite TVs. Stan Ridgeway even brought his 40 foot executive coach to show how he can do wheelies around the forest trees (well done). It will be hard to outdo this year’s campout. Thanks all!
