    Polite Requests

Sometimes, one of the most difficult things

you may come across in business writing is

how to make a request politely.Making polite requests is very important. It

not only makes a good impression of you and

the company, but it also increases you

    chances

of getting those requests fulfilled.which, of

    course, is the aim.2

to Alpha cables. You can tell this by the

way she has opened and closed the letter(if she was responding to a letter, she

would have opened using a name and

signed yours sincerely.) You may alsonotice that there is only one reference

    number.

    4. You will remember from Module three that how

you close a letter depends on how you open it. In

the first letter, as mentioned earlier in thismodule, Ms Ting does not know the name of the

person she was writing to. Therefore she opens

her letter with Dear Sir or Madam and closes

with Yours faithfully. In the seconds letter, MrLee knows the name of the person he is writing

to so he opens his letters with Dear Ms Ting

    and closes with Yours sincerely.9
