‣ Located in the centre of the city, the Munich Residenz is the former royal palace of the Bavarian monarchs

‣ The Residenz is the largest city palace and the complex contains ten courtyards and displays 130 rooms

‣ It was the official residence of the Wittelsbach royal family from 1385 to 1918. Today it serves as both royal residence and government seat

‣ It is also home to the Residenz Museum, the Treasury (the royal jewels are displayed here) and the Bavaria’s state coin collection

‣ The collection at the Treasury is one of the most important in the world and spans 1,000 years from the early Middle Ages ‣ Royal insignia, crowns, swords, goblets, goldsmith works, rock crystal,

The palace was commissioned by Ferdinand Maria and Henriette Adelaide in 1664 after the birth of their son Maximilian

The palace and its park belong to the most famous sights in Munich because of the magnificent garden that encloses the palace building

The museum attracts about 1.3 million visitors every year

Pinakothek der Morderne is one of the world’s largest visual arts museum devoted to the arts of the 20th century up to present

Together with the Alte and the Neue Pinakothek it is part of the Kunstareal (the art area) About 400 paintings and 50 sculptures are exhibited here

The Lenbachhaus is an art museum, housed in the villa of portrait painter Franz von Lenbach.

It has a variety of works by Munich painters and contemporary artists
