This module will help YOU get the most out of using the Worksite Inspection Checklist, developed by L&I professionals for completing an Accident Prevention Program (APP).

As you work through the Worksite Inspection Checklist, you will be asked to have specific items ready to successfully answer checklist questions.
You should do the following:
•Plan on working one item a time (you can do this one day at a time)

•Walk-through all areas in the facility

What you need to have for DAY 1:
• The WISHA posters:– If a job injury occurs– Job safety and health protection– Worker Rights
• Your business Accident Prevention Program (APP)
• First Aid Kits available

First Aid kits are commercially available.
First-aid kits purchased from your local retailer or safety supplier should be adequate for most nonindustrial employers.
DAY 2 – Emergency evacuation and Emergency Exits
What you need to have for DAY 2:
• Do a walk-around to identify evacuation routes and exits
• Evacuation plan• Evacuation map• Emergency phone numbers• Exit signs for exits and routes

•Develop an evacuation plan for emergencies.
•Clearly mark routes and exits.

• An evacuation plan provides the safest route to exit the facility in case of an emergency.

• Emergency walkways and exits must be kept clear.
• It is common to see these problems in many workplaces.

• Exit signs must be located so they are visible from several points.

What you need to have for DAY 3:• Do a walk-around, focusing on the
following:– Extension cords; ground pins– Power cord integrity– Breaker boxes clear accessibility– Waterproof covers on equipment
outdoors or at wet locations

• Extension cords should be only used temporarily.
• All three–pronged extension cords must have ground pins in place.

Access to electric control panels must be easy and clear.

• Electrical cords and equipment used at wet locations must have waterproof covers or seals.
DAY 4 – Work Stations
What you need to have for DAY 4:
• Do a walk-around, focusing on the following:– Chair general conditions– Chair adjusted to the employee– Materials stored safely

• Chairs must be in good condition.
• Adjust the chair to the person.
• Training is usually needed.

• Environmental conditions like temperature, lighting and noise should be at the person’s level of comfort.
DAY 5 – Housekeeping
What you need to have for DAY 5:
• Do a walk-around, focusing on the following:– Bathrooms– Water fountains– Waste disposal– Drainage– Scrap materials– Spills

• Drinking water must be provided from a clean source:– Water fountain– Individual cups– Bottled water

• Waste and scrap should be kept in clean and closed containers.
• Consider recycling materials.
