One of the most popular cars on the Northern Ireland car scene at the minute is the Volkswagen Golf. Having a wide range of parts available for them on the market and at reasonable prices, and not to mention it doesn’t take much for them to look great, as well as good mpg and cheap insurance from the diesel models, there is no reason why they aren’t popular. But here we have Jonny Graham’s Volkswagen Golf, though unlike most others on the scene Jonnys started off life as the Golf GTi Edition 30 model, which in standard guise is no slouch! Meaning this car packs the punch the looks deliver!

The cars super clean body with US Spec side markers in the bumper and smoothed plate recess is slammed hard down on the 18’ Compomotive VLM 1880 Alloys using FK Konigsport coilovers, which not only makes it >>

>> hard as nails looks but allows it to handle well in the corners matched with those grippy Toyo Tyres. The engine has been tuned giving it some extra power, with the edition 30s coming with an already uprated turbo, it was fettled with some more, full miltek turbo back exhaust system, Forge Motorsport Twintercooler, Forge Dumpvalve, and a Torque Tronix stage 2 remap which boosts this golf to 340bhp! Despite all this extra power the car still manages to feel somewhat factory very smooth that continues right threw the revs. As well as having the power and the looks it also has its comforts inside with the heated half leathers, and upgraded audio set up makes it a great car to be in at any time for any length of time which makes this car a practical and usable everyday. This is one car you will definatly not miss on the road. It has so much pressence and the sound is out of this world!

Today saw Larne’s annual Ultimate Car Show at

FG Wilsons, which always draws a crowd of people

despite the last 2 years being held on the same date

as Dubshed held at the Kings Hall in Belfast. UCS is

in its 6th year running and is going from strength to

strength over the years, this year rasing a massive

£7985 which was rounded up to £8k and split evenly

between the 3 charity’s, SpiNI, Larne Adult Centre,

and Local girl Caitlyn Mcallister.

The Sun defiantly shined on the show making it a

magnificent day for the event, with a huge range >>

>> of cars on show, from Euro hatchs threw to performance cars, rally slag and track cars, even some American muscle, as well as face painting and live music was defiantly something for everyone! We will be out in force again at next years UCS which has been confirmed 24th March 2013…So we will see you there!!

Here we have Simons Eunos Roadster. To most it just looks like it started life as a Mazda MX5, but this is a little Jap import. After searching for a second car to ‘tinker’ with his daily I30 pretty much finished with, Simon spotted this little car for sale and after a test drive he knew he had to have it. After quite a bit of replacing parts with upgraded items which made for quite spec list, like swaping out the old bust shocks for some Gaz Coilovers, and a Full 4 Branch manifold and exhaust system due to a seized nut on the old ones, both give this car an aggressive look, sound and feel. Simon couldn’t reisist the loud pedal under the bridge while we were snapping away. It was now time to sorce some wheels for the car, and along came mini lite style Rota wheels which give the car a great stance and menacing look.

The smoothed and offset front plate with the sidelight markers in the bumper really give the car a JDM/UDSM feel similar to that of Jonnys Golf on the cover of this issue. The car does gather a lot of slagging with it young male driving a convertible hairdressers car etc. but Simon loves the attention and even has some bits and pieces along in the car to play along with the jokes.

We look forward to see what else Simon has plan for the Roadster as we do love this car!

Showerks Live 2012Another year at Mckee Clock arena in Bangor for the Showerks live event, held on Easter Monday which coincides with Bangor’s Fun Day throughout the town which makes it a well worth while day for all the family and certainly draws in the crowds. This year sadly wasn’t the best of weather and with the few days running up to the show there was even jokes of “snow” but the show went on anyway, and luckily enough it was only an odd shower now and again. Despite this everyone was out between showers showing off there cars and drying them off making sure they were at there best. Some cracking motors on show this time round. All in all we had a great day out we look forward to Showerks ’13, and hope the sun makes an appearance.

The Ford Focus has always been a hot hatch for young people, but was never a car to be really modified in a mas-sive way. James Crowe was never one for following a trend, being his first modified 206 being nearly custom made with many one off parts, when it was time to change from his Astra he wanted something different again! He spotted this red focus sitting at the forecourt of the dealers looking like a nice red colour but he knew there was a lot more that could come out of it with a bit of elbow grease, and a bit of mods. Not wanting to build a full aftermarket body kitted car, nor an ST replica, an ST bumper was fitted up front and headlight washers smoothed off, and fully colour coded, along with OEM quality ICC tuning Plastic Side skirts and rear splitter, giving the car a sporty almost ST feel and look, but park both side by side you will see they are completely dif-ferent.

Inside the sound system has been upgraded with Pioneer Speakers and subs and head unit, giving of a mas-sive punch with crisp clear highs, the system has surprised quite a few people at shows, though all is hidden and looking OEM opening the boot revels a large box with the subs facing towards the front. Under the bonnet was trickled with RS green paint and gloss black, which was out of bore-dom says James but we think it looks quite well.

James has plenty more plans for the car including Fiesta RS turbo bonnet vents for some engine cooling, As well as some Bride bucket seats and some carbon fibre door builds and more interior work…. and possibly some more engine mods.
