Venue: Session #66 – Orlando MeetingRe: P802.16m/D4 comments for LB31 – Reply to Comment #A0564 Area: Section 16.3.5.2.1 – DL PHY Structure Section 16.3.8.2.1 – UL PHY Structure
Abstract: In the PHY structure in the D4 draft, when two groups of DRUs are allocated, those two groups are fairly close together in frequency, which is not good for exploiting frequency diversity. Comment A0564 / Contribution C802.16m-10/0044 proposes a modification which provides much better spacing in the DRUs when few DRUs are allocated, but the sub-bands are very close together in frequency when few sub-bands are allocated. We propose to slightly modify the sub-band partitioning equations in contribution C802.16m-10/0044 to improve the location of the PRUs that are allocated to be sub-bands while preserving the spacing of the DRUs achieved in Contribution 10/0044.

Overview
• This “reply contribution” addresses the issue of the spacing between DRUs and the spacing between Sub-bands in the PHY structure
• Currently in the D4 Draft:– When few DRUs/Mini-bands are allocated (high DSAC value), they are spaced very
close together, which is not good for exploiting frequency diversity– When few Sub-bands are allocated (low DSAC value), they are spaced reasonably
far apart, which is good for frequency selective scheduling• Contribution 10/0044 / Comment A0564 proposes a modification to D4:
– When few DRUs/Mini-bands are allocated (high DSAC value), they are spaced reasonably far apart
– However, when few sub-bands are allocated (low DSAC value), they are spaced very close together, which is not good for frequency selective scheduling
• We propose a slight modification to the new formulas proposed in Contrib 0044– The modification is to add a simple right circular shift (by N1 PRUs) to the
formulas proposed in Contribution 10/0044– When few DRUs/Mini-bands are allocated (high DSAC value), they are spaced
reasonably far apart (same spacing as in Contribution 10/0044)– When few Sub-bands are allocated (low DSAC value), they are spaced reasonably
far apart.– All other spacings achieved in Contribution 10/0044 are preserved by this
modification
