Modifications of infrastructure for Smart Grids
„Wake up from dreams to tough reality“
18. 4. 2012 Špindlerův Mlýn Milan Kloubec, AZ Elektrostav
Content
Overall information:
•Works range and their time intensity
•Power outage planning and complications
Chosen accomplishments:
•Installation of smart meters at the CEZ Headquarters
•Installation of repeaters of the BPL technology
New solutions for installation of Smart Grids technology:
•Electrical distributor with a Smart Grids Module
•Distribution substation with a Smart Grids Module
Overall information
Within the WPP AMM project the AMM technology was installed in almost
1000 distribution substations
Furthermore was installed:
•over 100 couplers of the PLC MV technology;
•tens of repeaters of the BPL technology;
•and many others.
3-membered team → installation of AMM technology into one substation/day
Installation of the AMM technology includes:
•creation of interface in substation
•installation and start up of the AMM technology
Necessary power outage for installation → limitation of consumers
Power outage is necessary to plan at least 2 months in advance!!
Precise coordination → alpha and omega of AMM technology installations…
Coordination: what is connected with installation of AMM technology?„Decalogue of AMM“
Coordination of several outages and teams during one day:
1.Logistics of power outages…
2.Preparation for the day „D“ (material, possible complications etc.)
3.Verification of the right phase rotation before power outage
4.Acceptance of worksite by AZ Elektrostav before installation
5.Drawing of circuit diagram in Microstation in field
6.Creation of detailed photo documentation before and after installation
7.Functionality verification of the installed technology with the control
8.Acceptance of worksite by ČEZ Distribuční služby after installation
9.Issuance of works inspector‘s report
10.Preparation and signing of completion certificates and complete
documentation with ČEZ Měření and ČEZ Distribuce
Installation of smart meters at the CEZ Headquarters
„Able to measure – able to economize“:
• Installation of the AMM technology for power
circuits of each individual floor
• Measured data transmission and its display in
foyer → on-line consumption monitoring
Black-out simulation at the CEZ Headquarters:outcomes
CEZ News: CEZ Headquarters in Prague became best measured
office building in Central Europe…
Repeaters installation of the BPL technology
High-speed transmission→ high frequency → shorter range
Smart Region Vrchlabí:
• task to install about 30 repeaters in a plastic box
• indicated as routine installations → each box „4 screws and a
cord“
• drawn ambitious plan „2-membered team will install in 3 days“
i.e. 10 boxes a day…
Repeaters installation Ad hoc:
1. do we have project documentation ???
2. is settlement of property rights carried out ???
3. is power outage for installation planned???
• I will rather stop asking…
Repeaters installation of the BPL technology
1) Installation of box
with repeater
2) Repeater installation
on the door (outside)
3) Repeater installation
inside the stand
4) Repeater installation
on the cover
5) Repeater installation
on the door (inside)
Installations carried
out without outages!!i.e. without consumer limitations

Milan KloubecSmart Grids Expert
Milan Kloubec manages installations and modifications of infrastructure for Smart Grids carried out by AZ Elektrostav in the framework of the AMM Pilot Project of CEZ Group. Together with his colleagues designed and implemented various solutions for installation of Smart Grids technology not only into existing infrastructure of the distribution system but also into its new types. Hand in hand with such solutions helps to increase efficiency of processes connected with installation of Smart Grids technology.
From 2001 to 2008, Milan Kloubec successively worked as an IT specialist at the CSOB bank, as an assistant to business director of E.ON Czech Republic, as an inventory management specialist at Pauwels Trafo Ireland and as an specialist of transmission system operation at E.ON Netz in Germany.
Milan Kloubec graduated from the Czech Technical University in Prague, Faculty of Electrical Engineering and from the University of Economics in Prague, Faculty of Business Administration. He also studied at the VitusBering University in Denmark, Saint Petersburg Polytechnical University in Russia, Instituto Tecnológico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey in Mexico, Université de Montréal and McGill University in Canada.

AZ Elektrostav, a.s.www.az-elektrostav.cz
AZ Elektrostav – privately held joint-stock company – was founded in 1992 and since then has become one of the most complex and important electrical engineering companies in the Czech Republic with many activities also in abroad. Its field of activity permanently expands hand in hand with its credo to realize power engineering projects and constructions from A to Z.
Promoting synergy and efficiency, AZ Elektrostav closely cooperates with its subsidiaries – among others with the joint-stock company Eltraf that has become one of the most progressive producers of transformer stations of various types.
In the framework of the Advanced Metering Management Pilot Project of CEZ Group, AZ Elektrostav carried out key installations of the AMM technology and interfaces in Distribution Substations. Also, in cooperation with its subsidiary Eltraf produced Distribution Substations and Electrical Distributors ready for installation of Smart Grids Modules.
AZ Elektrostav is a member of the Czech Committee of CIRED, the Leading Forum where the Electricity Distribution Community meets.
