Real wood - just a little lesslightWOOd is eXactlY What YOu Want - neither mOre nOr lessWe are quite sure of this since we asked a large group of
people what they want from a floor in their home. Happily
enough, it is wood. Different people have different reasons,
but most appreciate the warm, soft feeling and wood’s
natural variation and lustre.
Most people also want to have modern flooring, but
they think it is hard to choose. A real wood floor has always
cost a bit more. Therefore, we do not choose what we really
want but rather try to find something timeless. Sometimes
we end up with a rather boring choice that does not feel
very modern today - and probably won’t in ten years either.
To justify the higher costs, wooden floors are often sold
using the argument that they can be sanded and resurfaced.
An argument we can take a moment to think about.
Of those we asked, not one had resurfaced a floor. Have you?
We nOW present lightWOOd, a little smarter FlOOrIt is made from real wood, with all the good properties that
can only be obtained from real wood. Warm, soft and with
a character rich in natural variation. However, Lightwood
has a slightly thinner wood layer than traditional wooden
floors. This means it also costs less, especially when it
comes to modern patterns and exclusive wood types. With
Lightwood, in other words, you can always choose the wood
floor you really want to have now. When the trends have
swung, and you are eager for something new, just change!

Flooring for the sensesYou have to live with your new floor every day. Your eyes meet
it every morning; your feet will take many steps across it. There-
fore, you have to be careful when you choose; it has to appeal
to all your senses. It has to feel comfortable and be pleasant to
walk on. It mustn’t creak and make a noise. But above all, it has
to be beautiful to look at and provide a good background to all
the things that taken together make your home.

Flooring is fashionIt is easy to believe that we have always had oak on the floor,
but it is not so. Not too long ago, it was Cherry, before that
Beech and even earlier Pine. The only constant in floor fashion
is change - which you cannot avoid by sanding!
With Lightwood, you can easily, and for a reasonable cost,
change floor. You avoid the problems associated with sanding;
noise, bad smells and dust. Instead, you can follow the trends
and with simple means change your home so it always feels
modern and up-to-date.

The Kennedy Clan and the Boston Tea Party, Dead Poets Society and the Cider House Rules, Harvard and Yale, sailing and polo... Dead Poets Society and the Cider House Rules,
The small northeastern corner of the USA that is called New England has set the
tone in many ways, not least politically and intellectually. The great country in the
west is perhaps not so prominent in the field of fashion, but when for once it has
created a trend it is, naturally, this region that stands for the inspiration.
You can recognise the style easily. It plays with natural feelings where the material
is given hearty dimensions and a slightly rustic character. Whitewashed hewn
beams are combined with large transom windows that filter in white light, which is
almost blinding, through cotton curtains. The colour scale comes from the world of
sailing, where clear red and blue shades are natural elements.
The floor also has to have a strong character. Here our
dark floors match perfectly, preferably with a structure
brushed surface to bring out the raw wood feeling.
However, different wood types with white glaze can be
considered. Or why not a ship deck with black joints?

Amarone and malt whisky, designer furniture and candelabra, Hemingway and Strindberg, thick mats and open fires…
The modern elegance is built on the same timeless foundation stones that have always
applied. It is about finding a clear character without losing balance. Expensive without
being showy, intelligent without being boastful, clear without being eye-catching. If it is
to be sober, it must be thought through and have an inner well-tuned harmony.
To succeed with the style, you have to follow a few simple basic rules. Quality is the starting
point, it must always exist in all aspects; function, design and durability. Then it has
to be genuine and natural, no cheating. Nevertheless, there must also be a harmony
with current trends and modern idioms, for it not to be perceived as old-fashioned.
You have to choose your floor with the rest of the furnishings as part of the equation,
everything must balance. If you have darker furniture, you can choose a lighter wood
type. And vice versa. However, take care that the contrast is not too string, since it
then loses its elegance.

Wall Street and Broadway, glass facades and skylines, Metropolitan and Times Square, Champagne och caffè latte...
Modern urban culture and up-to-date trends in reality are global phenomena
that are similar irrespective of which major city you choose to consider. It can be
Docklands in London, la Defense in Paris or Manhattan in New York.
The style is modern, austere and stringent. The dominating material is stainless
steel, clinker and glass. It is open plan solutions with generous surfaces and
high ceilings. The decoration is characterised by harmonic colours,
straight lines and discriminating exclusive design. Even so, it is not
unusual for the modern to be contrasted against a bare, old brick
wall, a raw concrete pillar or a steel beam in the ceiling.
The floor has to set off the style.
Nevertheless, you decide what role it
will have; maybe a nearly black floor
with shiny lustre, or an austere white
glaze? Alternatively, you choose a
structure brushed oak and make the
floor the raw contrasting element
that lifts the whole.

The Skagen paintings and Sundborn, midsummer and the midnight sun, Arne Jacobsen and Alvar Aalto, ice hotel and art glass...
Nordic design is a highly topical phenomenon in the world of design. Never-
theless, it is really as old as it is new. The roots had already started to sprout
over a century ago, in Sundborn and on Jutland’s northern peninsula, for example.
The heritage is also obvious in today’s Nordic furniture design and decoration.
At all times, it has dealt with an airy and harmonic atmosphere, an almost weight-
less lightness where the light always takes the leading role. The idiom is simple
but elegant. Quality and naturalness are keywords in the choice of material.
Afterwards, you can choose the traditional interpretation with pastel and linseed
oil paints or a more modern, with austere lines and subdued colours.
On the floor, it feels natural with blond Nordic wood types, birch
or ash. Or our new really light Polar stained floor.

Homemade jam and leaven bread, Österlen and Provence, wood fire and garden patch, close to nature and handmade...
It isn’t strange that we can be filled of nostalgia and a longing back to times past.
Times when the tempo was slower and we had time to think and feel. When home
smelled of soap and new baked bread. Few things can give as much atmosphere
and feeling in a house than a well-chosen element of rustic retrospect.
It is not so difficult to get the style right. You don’t need to sacrifice a modern layout,
today’s standards for ergonomics and function, or spend weeks in building preservation
shops. It is often enough with a few key points that allow the thoughts to wander
back in time, a piece or two of furniture showing the traces of the ravages of time,
a white plastered open fire or a stove. Or a floor in real wood.
Choose a darker alternative, if you wish to allude to styles from the South of France
or Italy. Or a lighter, if you wish for a Nordic character. You can also choose a white
glazed floor that takes thoughts back to old-fashioned lye washed plain deal floors.

Unless otherwise noted above, the floor finish is silk-matt Topguard varnish.
The available assortment and stock varies between different markets and over time.
The sample pictures only show a small area. On a complete floor, patterns and colours can vary.
Photographs and printing cannot completely reproduce the wood’s natural colour and lustre,
which therefore can differ from real wood flooring.

Lightwood Art is something completely new in the market for wood flooring. At the
same time, it is a real classic, with many hundred years of traditions. Now an old
handicraft is reborn and is given new life with modern technology.
a cOncept Blending neW and OldWith an ingenious click system, it is once again possible to create classic patterns
from the era of parquet staves. Thanks to the modern technique for laying, the amount
of work needed is reasonable. Lightwood Art has staves of 385 x 77 mm. They can
be combined and joined together in several ways on both the short and the long sides.
mOdern masterpieces Or immOrtal classicsWith Lightwood Art, you have a completely new freedom to create patterns that
previously have not been possible with a modern click floor. The floor’s appearance
is totally up to your artistic freedom. You choose between classic parquet master-
pieces such as herringbone patterns and parquet square basket. Or you can create
your very own new floor style.

Topguard protection systemLightwood’s surface has an advanced protection system that makes it extremely resistant to wear and
tear. Our varnish is laid on in 6 layers that together form a very strong protective barrier. Moreover, the
varnish contains nanoparticles that increase the resistance to micro-scratches, so the floor surface keeps
its newly laid lustre longer. Therefore, you receive a 20-year wear warranty on your new Lightwood floor.
Topguard is solvent free and is thus more considerate for the environment and health. You choose
yourself the surface you want on your wood floor. Topguard is available in several variants:
VarnishedSilk-matt varnish has a lustre
that gives the floor a modern
and austere look. A varnished
wood floor is also hardwearing
and it is very easily cleaned, as
dirt and dust do not fasten.
matt VarnishedOur natural matt varnish resembles
an oiled wood surface, thereby
the various wood types’ distinctive
and natural character stand out.
Even so, the floor is hardwearing
and easy to maintain.
structure BrushedIf you want a distinct wood feeling,
then you choose a model with a
matt varnish and structure brushed
surface. This emphasises the
wood’s natural grain, which pro-
vides a clear and rustic character.

makes it extremely quick and easy to lay Lightwood. The short sides do not need

elastic click system. On our website, www.lightwood.se, you can see an animation
showing how simple it is.

With a passion for real woodLightwood is a natural product manufactured in Sweden by Golvabia, a family company
with a pedigree in the flooring industry going back to 1949. With its roots in forested
Småland, caring for nature is as dear to us as meeting high quality requirements.
Therefore, we are FSC certified by SGS Qualifor. The Forest Stewardship Council
promotes a social and environmentally responsible use of the world’s forests.
We are also quality certified according to ISO 9001:2008, which we are pleased to
underline by providing a full 20-year wear warranty on your new Lightwood floor!
lightWOOd is a pure natural prOductThe bearing layer consists of compact compressed wood fibre, which is a strong
and durable natural material. The wearing surface is a UV cured varnish without
solvent. The decorative surface consists of a veneer layer of real wood.
Because Lightwood contains less wood, it also makes more efficient use of
the wood raw materials. Each tree gives 8 times as large a surface with Lightwood
than with traditional types of wood floor.
care instructiOnIn most cases, it is sufficient to sweep or vacuum clean a Lightwood floor. Topguard makes the surface hard-wearing and easy to clean. If the floor needs more thorough cleaning, we recommend to clean the floor with a mild detergent and a well wrung cloth.
