WHAT IS TRUCK ART?
Truck art is a popular form of indigenous art in Pakistan and featuring floral patterns and
poetic calligraphy.
Origin of Truck ArtIt is believed that Truck art
originated late in 1920. When Kohistan Bus Company
hired craftsman Ustad Elahi Bakhsh and his group to decorate their buses to attract passengers.
History of Truck ArtThe proper work on this craft has been
started soon after the sub-continent.In the start companies used painted
slogans on trucks for their products so they could be easily recognized by their customers.

According to them the better and more colorful the logos, the more people were attracted to the business.
The decorations soon developed into something else.
They were now a way for drivers and owners to show off their rides.
The trucks became the pride and joy of those associated with it.
DecorationTrucks painted in bright colors, with an
extremely intricate level of detail, are a common sight on the highways of Pakistan.
The paintings often coupled with lines of poetry, religious calligraphy or common phrases represent the truck driver's identity and regional background.
Pakistan's truck drivers add plastic, chains, pendants and other shaped and decorated pieces of hammered metal dangling from the bumpers of the trucks and fabric accessories.
The images on the trucks embody a wide range of themes, including landscapes, celebrities, mythical creatures, religious imagery and national heroes.
Significance of Truck art Motifs
The decorative motifs can be divided into five categories:

happiness.Such symbols depicts the driver's own
personality as well.
PeacockPeacocks symbolize many things to the
driver in Pakistan. They are an epitome of beauty they
also belong to the land from where the driver originated.
They also symbolize the pride of the driver in his truck.
FlowersFloral patterns and motifs show the
beauty of their regions & love for their homeland.
EyesEyes are a true depiction of
keeping oneself safe from evil eyes and black magic.
Project description:
Students will decorate a Bulletin board on a theme of “Truck Art”.
Students will make a design of 10 by 12 inches on a theme of “Truck Art” individually.
Students must use vibrant colors & no copied designs from internet. Students can take help from internet in making new designs.

Students will place those designs on a board by a group work.
Students will also plan in a group that how they will present their designs on a bulletin board.
Students will use poster paints, spray paints, crayons, pencil colors, colored sheets and paper.
Assessment Technique:Students will be assessed throughout the
project with formative and summative assessment techniques.
A project rubric will be given to the students to prepare them for their project, which points they should remember during the project work.
It will also help them in self-assessment.
Students will be observed individually as well as in a group on their behavior with other peers, participation & performance in the project.
At the end the project will be displayed and
it will assess according to the project rubric.
