• Car phones• A very small part of society could

have them• Businessmen, people of high positions• Were quite costly• These people found that they needed

the phone not just in the car• Led to mobile telephones

Mobile Phones Before

• Big• Long antennae• Used just as phones and a

phonebook• Constantly needed charging• May not have even had a screen• Were still used mostly by the same

people who had car phones

Changes

• Personalised ring tones• Coloured lights• Changeable covers• No antennae• Basic pictures• Text messages

All of these seemed great changes at the time!!!

Mobile Phones Now

• Calling is just a feature of the many features of mobile phones

• Camera• SMS, MMS• Information portal• Music player• Bluetooth• Games

• May eventually replace computers (I doubt it)
