‘MOBILE HOME’ EVALUATION. We presented ‘Mobile Home’ to our

peers in the class in order to receive feedback on our documentary.

We received a range of positive and negative feedback and now we are aware of how to improve and make our final documentary better.

Page 3: Mobile home’ evaluation

POSITIVE FEEDBACK. “Good use of archive footage” – The use of

our archive footage was good because it linked to our documentary topic of ‘mobile phones.’

POSITIVE FEEDBACK. “Good music choice.” “The soundtrack worked.” – Our music choice

of Telephone by Lady Gaga ft Beyonce was a good decision because the song is about telephones which are the topic of our documentary.

POSITIVE FEEDBACK. “The intro and credits were original” – Our

intro and credits were good because they fitted into the mise-en-scene of mobile phones and matched the documentary topic well. They were also unique as none of the other groups did their intro and credits this way.

POSITIVE FEEDBACK. “Good use of cutaways.” – Our cutaways

were good because they matched the documentary topic and demonstrated how people use their mobile phones daily.

CRITICISM/HOW TO IMPROVE. “Fade the music in and out.” “Adjust the volume so that everything can be

heard.” “The music was very loud compared to the

interviewee.” We had a lot of problems with the

volume/music in our documentary. The cuts from the music to the audio of the interviewee did not flow because the music was very loud in comparison to the volume of the interviewee. Also, sometimes you could not hear the interviewee as she was too quiet.

In order to improve this for my final documentary I will ensure the interviewee speaks clear and loud and I will make the background music quiet and I will fade it in and out instead of cutting it off/on.

CRITICISM/HOW TO IMPROVE. “The mise-en-scene did not work, it was

irrelevant.” “The art in the background may be distracting

the audience from the interviewee.” The art we decided to do our interview in front

of did not fit in with the documentaries mise-en-scene. It had nothing to do with mobile phones and possibly distracted audience members from focusing on the interviewee because it stood out so much.

In order to improve this, when I film my final documentary I will ensure my interview mise-en-scene links with my documentary topic.

CRITICISM/HOW TO IMPROVE. “The interview angles aren’t correct.” “The interviewee’s answers don’t fully

explain the question.” There was a few problems with our interview

such as the camera angles not being correct and the questions not being fully answered.

To ensure I improve this, when it comes to my final documentary I will make sure I position my camera correctly and make sure the interviewee repeats the question in their answer.

CRITICISM/HOW TO IMPROVE. “It would be even better if it was longer.” My documentary was only a minute long. To

improve this, when I film my final documentary I will capture more footage to ensure that it is longer.
