Christina Miller, owner and President of Millhopper Montessori School has always placed a lot of. emphasis on the fine arts within the curriculum. To perform on stage. de-velops poise and confidence. Be-cause. this doesn't always come easily and the. fear of public speaking can be carried into adulthood, I feel it is necessary to .over come any apprehension during. childhood. A child is un-inhibited by nature and therefore the opportunities for self expres-sion should be abundant... The first performances thirty years ago consisted of ages two through third grade singing before a parent audience, much like our present Winter..Programs. We quickly evolved to staging, performing, dancing, blocking, and of course, singing, on stage. We even had the stu-dents sign all of their lines. We had ages two through lower ele-mentary all on stage at some point during the performance. The material used for the productions also evolved from a simple variety show to well known stories such as The Wiz-ard of Oz, Annie, Peter Pan, etc to original plays which I wrote

along with our music teacher such as: Whale of Tale and Touch The Sky. Now we are for-tunate to have a. MMS team of teachers including: Sylvia Al-sanian, Martha Horter, Rich-ard. Aslanian, Sherilyn Farris, Anita Bender, and Susan Sal-vatore all taking part in bring-ing about a phenomenal production. Millhopper Mon-tessori School has become well known in the community for its year-end productions as well as providing a qualityperforming arts experience for the students. In addition to the an-nual End of the Year Show, the Middle School students present an annual Shakespeare Festival at the Thomas Center and two after school drama clubs perform in December. The after school Vocal En-semble groups perform vari-ous times throughout the year. The Summer Camp Players perform two shows during the Summer Enrich-ment Camp in July.
