Work Instruction MM1A.2.1] MM01- Create material Master data Group in charge of master data is notified that a material master is required for a material. Purpose This Work instruction will be used by the relevant in-charge for maintenance of Material masters. Material will be created at Plant level and same can be extended to various other plant with applicable views. Prerequisites Using a reference material (similar characteristics etc.) saves a lot of effort as all the views will be copied over and can be changed or overwritten. To set user defaults for views and organizational levels follow these steps: Views: Menus: Defaults >> Views Select those views to be checked on by default when generating a new material. Select ‘View selection only on request’ when the select view pop-up is to be by-passed unless selected. Organizational levels: Menus: Defaults >> organizational levels Enter those organizational levels to be defaulted when generating a new material. MM1A.2.1] MM01- Create material Master data

Group in charge of master data is notified that a material master is required for a material.

Work Steps

1. Update the following Required, Optional, and Conditional fields, as needed:

Material R Enter the Material Code since External Material no. is applicable

Industry Sector R Choose “chemical industry” from the drop down in this field

Material Type R Choose the relevant Material Type in this field. Following is the type of Material defined for project items:

Z003Project

Copy from Material O If there is a material which is similar to the material required to be created, enter it in the reference material. This will copy all the views existing and necessary changes can be made to create the new material.

Now material is to be extended to a plant and other plant specific data to be entered.

Please enter item code to be extended , enter items code from which other plant data is to be copied .Select following views:

Purchasing , MRP1,2,3&4 views ,General Plant Data1 &2 ,accounting1&2 views .

Specify the Organizational Levels for which the material has to be defined.

9. Update the following Required, Optional, and Conditional fields, in Purchasing View as needed:

Plant R Enter the plant in which the material is to be defined.

Storage Location R Enter the Storage Location-

Valuation Type O Enter the valuation type to which this material is to be extended- Domestic/Imported/FOC/Repair.

(To start with material will be created without valuation type only with valuation category B i/e split valuation is effective later on it will be extended to respective types.)

UOM of order to be entered in case dual unit are maintained.

Variable order unit active C It will be used in case dual units are maintained

In case of above we will enter 2 i.e active with own price.

Purchasing group R Purchase Group which do procurement activity for this item.

Since it is not known at the time of item creation hence we will UNK , later on at the time of PR final release by purchase , it will be corrected .

Plant-Specific Material Status

O This will indicate whether material is Surplus / Obsolete and we have to block procurement.

In case material is surplus we will put G1 and in case of obsolete G2 flag.

Material freight group R We have decided to Denote Consumption type Fixed / Variable / Specified.

In case of Variable Consumption item-V, Fixed nature –F and Specified-S.

Batch management R Will denote that material is batch managed.

In our case all of our Stores & Spares stock will be maintained department wise through batch management ,hence batch management will be active -Checked

Purchasing Value Key O Key defining the reminder days and tolerance limits valid, as well as the shipping instructions and order acknowledgment requirement of the material for Purchasing.

GR Processing Time R Number of workdays required after receiving the material for inspection and placement into storage.

In our case value will be 3 days

Critical part R Item is of high consumption value or Low consumption value.

For high consumption value items it will be X, otherwise blank.

MRP Group R To denote whether material covered in MRP.

For all items except AC/VC common ideal we will use 0000 and AC/VC common items Z002

MRP Type R To Denote whether this item is covered in Min-Max/Ideal/Specified

For Min-Max Items -VB, Department Ideal items-Z1, Specified items-Z2.

Reorder Point C To Inform Reorder qty in case MRP Type-VB

MRP controller O To inform responsibility to Maintain the stock.

STR-If MRP type VB, Deptt Code- For MRP type Z1 and else blank.

ABC Indicator R Insurance-V, Critical- E, Non critical -D

Lot size C Key that determines which lot-sizing procedure the system uses within materials planning to calculate the quantity to be procured or produced.

In case of VB-HB else blank.

Fast Moving- Blank, Slow Moving 01 , Non Moving 02 .

CC Physical Inventory Indicator O At what freq. material will be counted.

Minimum Remaining Shelf Life O In case of Shelf life item what is minimum shelf life required for the itemNo. of Days minimum shelf life required for a item.

Total Shelf Life C Total Shelf of item required in days in case item is shelf life item.
