Infrastructure Projects Value

The Klang Valley MRT Project

MRT Corporation, Malaysia

THE first Klang Valley MRT line to be approved for implementation is the 51 km MRT Sungai Buloh-Kajang Line (MRT Line 1). In addition, the Malaysian government is expected to soon announce the alignment and station locations for MRT Line 2 and MRT Line 3. The line starts from Sungai Buloh which is located to the north-west of Kuala Lumpur, runs through the city centre of Kuala Lumpur, and ends in Kajang, a fast developing town located to the south-east of Kuala Lumpur.

$10 Billion

North West Rail Link

Department of Transport for NSW

The $8.3 billion North West Rail Link (NWRL) is the highest prioritised rail infrastructure project to be undertaken by the Department of Transport for News South Wales. The 23 km rail link will ensure a fast, safe and reliable journey for commuters in Sydney’s north-west suburbs. QA Software through its TeamBinder solution provides software as a service to facilitate the exchange of correspondence, electronic communication, documents, knowledge and information between TfNSW and its contractors, service providers and stakeholders, which may be in geographically diverse locations. TeamBinder is being used by all project organisations as the single source of truth. The first stage is scheduled for completion in 2015.

$8.3 Billion

Parramatta Rail Link, Sydney

Thiess Hochtief Joint Venture (THJV)

The Parramatta Rail Link (PRL) was the largest single publicly funded infrastructure contract in Australia after the News South Wales government implemented a 15-year proposal in 2005. The government’s plan was to increase capacity of the CityRail network; as well as expand rail services to new areas. The THJV was responsible for designing and constructing two tunnels, each 13 kms long and four new stations between Epping and Chatswood on Sydney’s North Shore. The THJV and ALSTOM Australia Group were also responsible for the design, construction and commissioning of track, signal, and communication works for each of the tunnels ensuring a safe and fully operational rail system between the two sites was delivered at each stage. In addition to the above, major works continued to build the Epping to Chatswood Rail Line. This project included a new underground passenger rail line which significantly increased the capacity of the CityRail network and provided direct rail access. QA Software’s TeamBinder with its superior technology and functionality collated, streamlined and managed the vast amount of data and documents created at Thiess Hochtief and ALSTOM Australia Group. TeamBinder provided online document control solutions to ensure efficiency and that project outputs were maximised for this large, complex and multi-faceted construction project.

Peninsula Link Project - Frankston Bypass

Abigroup Contractors Pty Ltd

The Peninsula Link freeway bypass in Victoria includes 25 kms of a freeway standard road, 11 local road connections, more than 35 bridges and 18,000 sqm of retaining walls from Eastlink and the existing Frankston Freeway to the existing Mornington Peninsula Freeway at Mt Martha. It also includes the provision of 22 kms of walking and cycling paths that incorporate the necessary drainage infrastructure to cater for storm events and the existing stream flows. This major bypass construction works required QA Software’s cutting edge TeamBinder technology to efficiently manage tens of thousands of documents and correspondence to maximise project phase efficiency to deliver Victorians with the Peninsula Bypass Link.

Pacific Highway Upgrade (Karuah to Bulahdelah Sect. 2 & 3,

Banora Point Upgrade, Bonville, Brunswick Heads to Yelgun)

Abigroup Contractors Pty Ltd

The Roads and Traffic Authority (RTA) engaged Abigroup Contractors Pty Ltd to design, construct and maintain the Pacific Highway which was one of the largest infrastructure projects in NSW extending from Hexham to Tweed Heads. Sections 2 & 3 components of the Pacific Highway Upgrade involved the construction of 23 kms of separated dual carriageway fundamentally along its existing alignment, including new intersections, two new rest areas and a total of seven twin-bridges over various creek crossings. Safety improvements to the existing highway and upgrading new sections of the highway improved road conditions, including; consistent overtaking opportunities, creating a reduction in travel times, whilst minimising road traffic hazards and car accident injuries and fatalities. Abigroup engaged TeamBinder to streamline documents pertaining to design, construction, maintenance, environmental challenges and management systems for neighbouring State Forests and Endangered Ecological Communities, including threatened flora and fauna. TeamBinder extended to the management and implementation of effective on-site environmental controls, including managing documents on erosion, sediment controls and potential negative impacts to minimise local council and community correspondence.

Western Corridor Advanced Waste Water Treatment Plant

Luggage Point Alliance

The $2.5 billion Western Corridor Recycled Water Project is Australia’s largest water recycling scheme and the third-largest advanced water treatment project in the world. The corridor uses secondary wastewater from Brisbane and Ipswich, to produce 232Ml of purified recycled water a day. The project was the Queensland State Government’s response to unprecedented demand on its water supply due to population growth, climate change and the worst drought in recorded history. The Laing O’Rourke CH2M Hill JV, three Advanced Water Treatment Plants (AWTP) were constructed as part of the overall WCRW Project at Bundamba, Gibson Island and Luggage Point, along with 200 kms of pipeline to transfer the water for treatment and then to end users. The Luggage Point AWTP is a key part of the WCRW Project, providing up to 70 Ml per day of purified recycled water to the WCRW pipeline. Works included design and construction of the Luggage Point Advanced Water Treatment Plant (AWTP).

$2.5 Billion

Wiggins Island Coal Terminal

Gladstone Port Authority

The Central Queensland Ports Authority (CQPA) and Queensland Rail (QR) have allied to undertake development of a coal terminal in the Port of Gladstone. This greenfield coal terminal will be the second major coal export facility in Gladstone and will ultimately have a nominal capacity of 70 million tonnes per annum. The terminal and associated rail infrastructure will include a 2.4 km jetty, up to four berths, stockyard, extensive rail infrastructure (approximately 70 kms of track) and supporting road, power and water supply infrastructure. The new terminal will be located north west of Gladstone and immediately upstream of the existing RG Tanna Coal Terminal.
