5. Check for codes to confirm the DTC did not reset.

Drive Cycle 2

z To perform the drive cycle:

1. Start the engine with all accessories switched off.

2. Run the engine at idle for 10 seconds (monitor is running).

3. Switch the ignition off.

4. Repeat Steps 1 through 3.

NOTE:i Under normal conditions the monitor is set to complete after the first drive cycle, the second

cycle is needed to detect if a DTC set during the first drive cycle.

5. Check for codes to confirm the DTC did not reset.

Drive Cycle 3Inspection conditions:

z To perform the drive cycle:

1. Start the engine with all accessories switched off.

2. Accelerate to a vehicle speed of 38 mph (60 kph) and maintain that speed for 90 seconds.

3. Release the accelerator and reduce vehicle speed to 18 mph (30 kph)

4. Accelerate to a vehicle speed of 38 mph (60 kph) and maintain that speed for 20 seconds.

5. Release the accelerator and reduce vehicle speed to 18 mph (30 kph)

6. Stop the vehicle in a safe place and switch the ignition off.

7. Repeat Steps 1 through 6.

NOTE:i Under normal conditions the monitor is set to complete after the first drive cycle, the second

cycle is needed to detect if a DTC set during the first drive cycle.

8. Check for codes to confirm the DTC did not reset.

Drive Cycle 4Inspection conditions:

• Engine coolant temperature above 86°F (30°C)

• Intake air temperature above 14°F (–10°C)

• Barometric pressure higher than 22.5 in-hg (76 kPa)

• Automatic transmission selector in “D” range

1. Start the engine with all accessories switched off.

2. Monitor Scanner data and drive the vehicle for 5 minutes under the following conditions:

a. Engine speed above below 3000 RPM

b. Airflow rate above 15 g/s and less than 29 g/s

c. Accelerator pedal not fully closed

d. No rapid accelerator pedal movement

3. Release the accelerator for 5 seconds.

c. Accelerator pedal not fully closed

• Engine coolant temperature below 96°F (36°C) at start

• Intake air temperature below 96°F (36°C) at start

• Fuel tank level above 15% and below 40% of capacity at start

• Engine coolant temperature above 41°F (60°C) during test

• Intake air temperature above 41°F (5°C) during test

• Barometric pressure higher than 22.5 in-hg (76 kPa)

• Fuel temperature below 96°F (36°C)

• Automatic transmission selector in “D” range

z To perform the drive cycle:

1. Start the engine with all accessories switched off.

2. Monitor Scanner data and drive the vehicle for 16 minutes under the following conditions:

a. Vehicle speed above 19 mph (30 kph)

b. Engine speed above 1600 RPM and below 4000 RPM

c. Engine load above 26% and below 50%

d. No rapid accelerator pedal movement

Drive Cycle 6Inspection conditions:

• Engine coolant temperature below 96°F (36°C) at start

• Intake air temperature below 96°F (36°C) at start

• Fuel tank level above 40% and below 85% of capacity at start

• Engine coolant temperature above 68°F (20°C) during test

• Intake air temperature above 41°F (5°C) during test

• Barometric pressure higher than 22.5 in-hg (76 kPa)

• Fuel temperature below 90°F (32°C)

z To perform the drive cycle:

1. Start the engine with all accessories switched off.

2. Allow the engine to run at idle for 16 minutes.

3. Switch the ignition off.

4. Repeat Steps 1 through 3.

NOTE:i Under normal conditions the monitor is set to complete after the first drive cycle, the second

cycle is needed to detect if a DTC set during the first drive cycle.

5. Check for codes to confirm the DTC did not reset.

Drive Cycle 7Inspection conditions:

1. Start the engine with all accessories switched off.

2. Allow the engine to run at idle for 30 seconds.

3. Accelerate for 2 seconds under the following conditions:

a. Engine speed above 2000 RPM

b. Engine load above 60%

c. Throttle position sensor signal above 3.5 volts.

4. Stop the vehicle in a safe place and switch the ignition off.

5. Repeat Steps 1 through 4.

NOTE:i Under normal conditions the monitor is set to complete after the first drive cycle, the second

cycle is needed to detect if a DTC set during the first drive cycle.

3. Stop the vehicle in a safe place and allow the engine to run at idle for 30 seconds.

4. Repeat Steps 2 and 3.

5. Stop the vehicle in a safe place and switch the ignition off.

6. Check for codes to confirm the DTC did not reset.

Drive Cycle 9Inspection conditions:

• Engine coolant temperature above 47°F (7°C) at start

• Intake air temperature below 140°F (60°C) at start

• Engine coolant temperature above 104°F (40°C) during test

• Automatic transmission selector in “D” range

• Engine coolant temperature above 50°F (10°C) and below 168°F (76°C) at start

• Engine coolant and intake air temperature difference less than 9°F (5°C) at start

• Intake air temperature decrease at startup less than 3.6°F (2°C)

1. Start the engine with all accessories switched off.

2. Drive the vehicle for 3 minutes at a speed of 31 mph (50 kph).

3. Release the accelerator pedal for 5 seconds, then stop the vehicle.

4. Accelerate to a vehicle speed of 31 mph (50 kph) under the following conditions:

a. Engine speed above 1500 RPM

b. Engine load above 40%

5. Release the accelerator pedal for 5 seconds, then stop the vehicle.

6. Repeat Steps 4 and 5 two more times.

7. Stop the vehicle in a safe place and switch the ignition off.

8. Repeat Steps 1 through 7.

9. Check for codes to confirm the DTC did not reset.

Drive Cycle 14Inspection conditions:

• Engine coolant temperature above 14°F (–10°C) and below 91°F (33°C) at start

• Engine coolant and intake air temperature difference less than 9°F (5°C) at start

• Automatic transmission selector in “D” range

z To perform the drive cycle:

1. Start the engine with all accessories switched off.

2. Drive the vehicle at a speed above 19 mph (30 kph) until engine coolant temperature rises above 140°F (60°C).

3. Stop the vehicle in a safe place and switch the ignition off.

4. Repeat Steps 1 through 3.

5. Check for codes to confirm the DTC did not reset.

5. Stop the vehicle in a safe place and switch the ignition off.

6. Repeat Steps 1 through 5.

7. Check for codes to confirm the DTC did not reset.

• Engine coolant temperature above 86°F (30°C)

• Engine coolant and intake air temperature difference less than 9°F (5°C) at start

• Engine coolant temperature above 171°F (77°C) during test

z To perform the drive cycle:

1. Start the engine with all accessories switched off.

2. Allow the engine to run at idle for 10 minutes.

3. Switch the ignition off.

4. Repeat Steps 1 through 3.

5. Check for codes to confirm the DTC did not reset.

Drive Cycle 20Inspection conditions:

• Engine coolant temperature above 180°F (82°C)

• Intake air temperature above 14°F (–10°C)

• Barometric pressure higher than 22.5 in-hg (76 kPa)

z To perform the drive cycle:

1. Start the engine with all accessories switched off.

2. Accelerate to a vehicle speed of more than 1 mph (1.5 kph).

3. Stop the vehicle in a safe place and allow the engine to run at idle for 1 minute.

5. Repeat Steps 1 through 4.

6. Check for codes to confirm the DTC did not reset.

Drive Cycle 21Inspection conditions:

• Engine coolant temperature above 171°F (77°C)

z To perform the drive cycle:

1. Start the engine with all accessories switched off.

2. Allow the engine to run at idle for 30 seconds.

3. Drive at an engine speed greater than 4813 RPM for 5 seconds.

4. Switch the ignition off.

5. Repeat Steps 1 through 4.

6. Check for codes to confirm the DTC did not reset.

Drive Cycle 22Inspection conditions:

• Engine coolant temperature above 180°F (82°C)

z To perform the drive cycle:

1. Start the engine with all accessories switched off.

2. Allow the engine to run at idle for 15 minutes.

3. Switch the ignition off.

4. Repeat Steps 1 through 3.

5. Check for codes to confirm the DTC did not reset.

Drive Cycle 23Inspection conditions:

• Engine coolant temperature above 45°F (7°C)

• Intake air temperature above 14°F (–10°C)

z To perform the drive cycle:

1. Start the engine with all accessories switched off.

2. Allow the engine to run at idle for 4 minutes.

3. Switch the ignition off.

4. Repeat Steps 1 through 3.

5. Check for codes to confirm the DTC did not reset.
