MIT SESSION #1 OBJECTIVES:Each student will be able to:

Log on to computer with username and password Connect to WIFI Use the USB drive provided Send email using Microsoft Outlook Understand importance of file management Locate Web cam and Skype Determine battery life and tips to save battery

LOGGING ON:

1. Username = first initial & last name Carrie Burkhead = cburkhead

2. Password = student1 Password should have both letters and numbers. You

will need to change this at the beginning of school.

WIRELESS Fn + F6 turns on and

off the wireless connection

Indicator light is located bottom

left corner of computer. If the light is blue then your wireless IS on.

Here is where you can see if your WIFI is turned on or off.

FILE MANAGEMENT

Very important that you keep your files organized.

Creating a new folder: click the New Folder button.

The folder will appear in the documents library.

To Rename folder right click and select rename

USB FLASH DRIVE

Insert MSM flash drive to any of the usb drives.

Locate information saved on the drive

To safely remove the drive follow these steps:

1. Click arrow.2. Locate USB icon with

green check mark.3. Select the USB drive to

eject.4. You have safely removed

your USB drive.

PRINTING It is very important that you PRINT

the printer that your teacher instructs.

Here are the steps to find a printer: File – Print In the print dialog box notice

the selected printer. It is not the correct printer Next you should click on FIND

PRINTER and another dialog box will appear then you will click on FIND NOW

PRINTING

After clicking the FIND NOW button you will see this dialog box. Notice below are all the printers in the school. Click on the printer that your teacher requires you to print to.

For example, Find Mrs. Burkhead’s classroom printer.

Once you have found printer and selected it you will be directed back to the first printer dialog box. BE SURE TO SELECT THE PRINTER YOU WANT AND THEN PRINT!
