MISSOURI FILM & MEDIA INDUSTRY
The U.S. entertainment industry is concentrated in New York City and Los Angeles—while a cluster of smaller hubs are scattered in states and cities throughout the country. Missouri has more than 11,000 * professionals working in the motion picture and commercial production industry. Its colleges and universities offer 38 �lm and digital media programs to future industry and community leaders.
HBO TV series by Kansas City native Gillian Flynn, starring Academy Award-nominated actress Amy Adams and directed by Emmy winner Jean Marc Vallee. The series filmed in California and Georgia, even though it is entirely set in Missouri. The show debuted in 2018. Estimated spend, $48 million.

Amblin Entertainment film from the award-winning screenwriter of American Sniper, Jason Hall, about five real life Missouri-area veterans of the Iraq war. Based on a true story and fi lmed in Atlanta in 2016. Distributed by Dreamworks. $10.3 million direct spend in Georgia.
Breakthrough
Story of a St. Charles, MO boy who fell through the ice. His family, through the power of prayer, helped him come out of a coma. Based on a real story. Filmed in Manitoba, Canada. $14 million budget.
Entertainment is a tech & manufacturing industry that serves as an economic driver in both the short- and long-term. Producers are required to search for the most budget-friendly fi lming locations. Incentive programs are an industry norm. When we can get a project, it secures job opportunities and new money into our economy.

Sharp Objects Ozark
Netflix TV series released in 2017 and was one of the top four streaming shows of the summer. Missouri native/show creator Bill Dubuque, who worked in the Ozarks as a teenager, was inspired to set a fictional story there. The show stars Jason Bateman and Laura Linney, both of whom were nominated for 2018 Golden Globe and SAG awards for their performances. The series filmed primarily in Georgia, using two lakes to represent Lake of the Ozarks. Estimated spend per season, $70 million.
Fargo, Season 4
Season Four is set entirely in Kansas City and stars Chris Rock and Jason Schwartzman. This critically acclaimed FX TV series has captured Emmy and Golden Globe awards. Produced by MGM, estimated spend of $20 million. Filming in Chicago.
