Materials: 1 50g ball Karaoke #352 Gator 1 50g ball Karaoke #295 Black 3.5mm and 4mm Crochet hooks or sizes to fit gauge Tapestry needle To fit Adult Head. Working in clusters of 2tr, forming a "V", into which the next cluster is worked for the next row. Tension: Measured flat across the top of the ‘V’s. 8 dcs to 5 cm. Step 1 With 3.5mm hook 3 chains, sl st in a circle, into circle 1sc 1ch (as 1st dc), make 8dc, slst into top of 2ch. (9dcs) Step 2 1sc 1ch and 1dc into same space, 2dc into every dc, to end, sl st into top of first 2ch. (18dcs) Step 3 1sc 1ch and 2dc into first space, skip 1dc, 3dc in next 2dc space, repeat to end of row, sl st in to top of first ch. (9 clusters of 3dcs) Step 4 1sc 1ch and 1dc into first space between 2dc (of 3dcs cluster), (2dc into the next 2dc space), repeat to end of row, sl st to top of 2ch. (18 clusters of 2dcs) Step 5 Repeat step 3 and 4 once more. (36 clusters of 2dcs) Step 6 1sc 1ch and 1dc in first space between 2dc, 2dc into each 2dc space to the end. (36 clusters of 2dcs) Step 7 Swap to 4mm hook, repeat Step 6 for the next 11 rows, alternating colors if preferred. Note: Beret should lie flat for the next 6 rounds then start to curl in. If Beret does not lie flat, work 1 ch in between the 2dc of the ‘V’s, or change to larger hook. Step 8 Swap to 3.5mm hook, repeat step 4, for the next 4 rows, changing colors every row. Step 9 1sc 1ch and 1hdc into space between 2dc shell and 1hdc into each 2dc space. (72hdcs) Step 10 Work one (or several size to suit) row of sc all around the rim of beret. Cut and weave in yarn.
