The Braves will send LHP Tyler Pike (0-2) to face LHP Stephen Gonsalves (3-3) for the Lookouts. Tonight’s game begins a rare 6-Game series running through Monday, July 3rd. LAST GAME: For the third me in five games it took extra innings to decide a winner in an evenly matched series between the Mississippi Braves and the Biloxi Shuckers as Kade Scivicque blasted a solo home run in the top of the 11th to ulmately claim the victory in Monday night’s series finale. The two regulaon games in the series were decided by a total of just three runs. LAST SERIES: The Braves opened the second half of the Southern League season with a five game series at Biloxi against the Shuckers. Game 1 on the series, scheduled for Thursday night, was delayed one day due to field conditions following heavy rains from Tropical Storm Cindy. The series began Friday night with a double header and the Braves were swept by the Shuckers 2-0 and 11-9 (8). In game 3 Saturday night the Braves picked up their first win (2-1) behind the great pitching of Mike Soroka (W,9-3), Bradley Roney (H,1) and Philip Pfeifer (S,2). Mississippi made it two games in a row in game 4 Sunday when the pitching staff held the Shuckers to three runs (2 earned) for 10 innings picking up a 7-3 victory. Monday’s finale went to extra innings before Kade Scivicque hit a solo shot to put the Braves up 4-3 and Roney (W, 4-0) completed two perfect innings in relief to pick up the win in 11 innings and give Mis- sissippi a 3-2 series victory to begin the second half. BRAVES ORGANIZATIONAL PLAYER/PITCHER OF THE MONTH: The Atlanta Braves announced the minor league pitchers and players of the month for May. For the Double-A Mississippi club, RHP Wes Parsons and OF Ronald Acuna were selected for the monthly accolades. Acuna, 19, posted a .415 bang average with seven doubles, a triple, three homers and 15 RBI in 21 games during the month of May. He also stole 12 bases during that me frame. In 23 contests since joining the Double-A Braves on May 9, Acuna is hing .396 with 12 extra-base hits and 18 RBI. Parsons, 24, ap- peared in five games and made two spot-starts for the M-Braves during the month of May. During those games, Parsons recorded a 1.69 ERA, giving up just five hits in 16.0 innings of work. He struck out 11 and walked four. THIS DATE IN BRAVES HISTORY: 2012...During an on-field ceremony prior to the game against Arizona at Turner Field, the Braves honor Chipper Jones, who was officially inducted into the Braves’ Hall of Fame earlier in the day. Joining team legends Hank Aaron (44), Warren Spahn (21), Eddie Mathews (44), Phil Niekro (35), Dale Murphy (3), Greg Maddux (31), Tom Glavine (47), John Smoltz (29), and Bobby Cox (6), the 40 year-old Atlanta third baseman, who will finish his 19-year career when the season ends, becomes the tenth person to have his number rered by the franchise when his jersey #10 is unveiled on the ouield wall. TODAY’S GAME • LHP Tyler Pike will take the mound today against the best team in the Southern

League looking for his first win as a Mississippi Braves. In his two previous starts since being promoted from High-A Florida his has a combined 9.1 innings pitched allowing 6 runs on 7 hits, walking eight and striking out six.

LAST TIME OUT • Tyler Pike, in his second start for the Double-A Braves, pitched the complete game.

He surrendered two runs on four hits while walking three and striking out two.

HIGHLIGHTS • Pike, 23, was 5-2 with a 2.20 ERA in 12 starts at High-A Florida this season. He’s

struck out 68 while walking just 27 in 69.2 innings of work. Pike posted his best numbers during the month of May, going 3-1 with a 1.80 ERA in five starts for the Fire Frogs.
