Mission of the Month:
WISE
6th ANNUAL MEN’S 1, 2 or 3 DAY MISSION TRIP TO
CHRISTIAN CHILDREN’S HOME OF OHIO
October 13-15, 2016
One of my favorite service projects of the year is the Annual 1, 2 or 3 Day Men’s Mission Trip to the Christian
Children’s Home of Ohio, located in Wooster, Ohio. CCHO serves the most vulnerable of the brokenheart-
ed….children. From their on-campus cottages to their family counseling centers, they help children and their families
heal through the love of Jesus. Over the years, we’ve heard incredibly sad stories of children being abused and conse-
quently, being placed with CCHO. We’ve then seen the glimmer return to kids’ eyes and heard them laugh as they
played on the grounds at CCHO because it is a safe place. DCC has forged good friendships with our brothers and
sisters at CCHO. Over the years, we have come alongside CCHO to build an outbuilding, landscape, roof buildings,
construct a shelter, pour concrete for sidewalks and patios, replace flooring and drywall, remodel bathrooms…and the
list goes on. Each year, we go with a project or more in hand, and we are the ones that come away blessed!
This year, we’ll be focusing on building walls, replacing substantial amounts of drywall, lots of painting, and replacing
flooring in Residential Cottage 6. Cottage 6 is currently being used for classrooms, but we’ll convert it back to housing
for children.
Everyone can contribute to the $6,000 goal. Please write “CCHO Mission Trip” on your memo line. Again, our
target date is Sunday, October 9.
Men…as the name implies, you can volunteer 1, 2 or 3 days. All housing and food are provided. Please note: You
do not need construction skills for this trip. We’ll teach you! You need a willing heart and be able to do manual la-
bor.
Want to provide a meal for hungry workers? If you are willing to provide a casserole, soup, salad, dessert or other
yummy energy source for hungry workers, please e-mail Jim of your intentions at [email protected]. The meals
need delivered to the church by 8:30 a.m., Wednesday, October 12.
If you have any questions, please contact Jim at [email protected] or call the church office at 614-889-1572.
Lastly, please pray for this project!
