This program will concentrate on Mission beginning with Juan Rodriquez Cabrilo in 1542 and ending with the rebuilding of the present church in 1931. Cross-cultural differences will be addressed and specificaly the happenings specific to Mission San Diego. Additonally, the tour will focus on aracts and architcture as related to Mission history. Mission Basilica San Diego de Alcala Mission Basilica San Diego de Alcala During this docent guided tour as you walk through the mission grounds students will have the opportunity to see the rebuilding of the ewaa, the Kumeyaay hut. The branches were meculously cut, formed, and proudly built by a member of Kumeyaay people. Students actualy get inside this hut that would have housed a family of four. Our Casa de Los Padres, earliest surviving walls on site, has had wall renovaton and restoraon work done and serves as an example of mission life. Our two dioramas, designed and executed by a noted archaeologist also enhance the learning experience.
