Mission 10x

This week we are undergoing an intensive training program called “Mission 10x” which was intended for developing better learning approaches as well as teaching methodologies in engineering so that we can create better employability in students. The program was a part of the initiative taken by “Wipro Technologies” in association with corporate training pioneer “Dale Carnegie Association”. The program consists of two main components. one is the Dale Carnegie certification and the other is the Cambridge learner program. The first one required us to present five presentations on different topics namely: 1. Presenting ourselves before an audience, which in turn measures our confidence, approach and body language along with our ability to communicate in an unfamiliar environment. 2. Presenting a complex technical issue with a simple analogy. 3. Performing a role-play in which we have to enact the role we are given. 4. Discuss a difficult classroom situation we had faced and finally 5. Present an act in which we have to persuade the students in overcoming some bad practices All these presentations were to be performed in front of a camera so that we can watch it later for assessment and counseling. Our instructor is Mr.Pradeep sen from Kolkata. He is in marketing for twenty years and now is currently employed in ISB Hyderabad. He encouraged all of us and motivated us in an elegant manner that gradually we began to transform from a layman to a professional. My personal experience is that I got an opportunity to look at my weaknesses and how to manage them effectively so that my strengths dominate over them. The major problem I faced, and even my colleagues faced, is our inability to speak fluently in English. It is a major barrier for us. The second one consists of group discussions and case studies which we have to present as a team rather than as an individual. We are introduced the methods named “multiple intelligence” and “blooms

The first one required us to present five presentations on different topics namely:

1. Presenting ourselves before an audience, which in turn measures our confidence, approach and body language along with our ability to communicate in an unfamiliar environment.

2. Presenting a complex technical issue with a simple analogy.3. Performing a role-play in which we have to enact the role we are given.4. Discuss a difficult classroom situation we had faced and finally5. Present an act in which we have to persuade the students in overcoming some bad practices

All these presentations were to be performed in front of a camera so that we can watch it later for assessment and counseling.

We are introduced the methods named “multiple intelligence” and “blooms taxonomy” which are implemented in Cambridge and MIT. The overall duration of the workshop is five days.

During the fourth day another trainer named muralidhar came. He just revised what we learnt in the previous sessions and asked us to project those topics in the form of a role play. We presented the three things of blooms taxonomy namely knowledge, understanding and application in the form of a reality show in which I acted as a judge. My performance was appreciated by one and all. During the final day we are supposed to present the session plan and also enact the subject topic in the form of a role-play given to us. Ours is a panel discussion and we did it with grace.During the afternoon session certificates were given to the participants and we all had a group photo together.

Overall, it is a worth full attempt in which we risk our esteem in an unfamiliar environment only to learn our incapability and make ourselves capable by practicing the things we learnt there.
