At each corner, fold fabric so that side seam allowance aligns with notch, lining up the raw edges. Paperclip to secure and stitch along raw edge, backstitching at begin-ning and end.

From nylon strapping, cut two pieces 14” long and two pieces 29” long.

Align the raw edges of one short and one long strap, mak-ing sure they are not twisted. Fold the longer strap ends over the shorter ones and baste across the folds. Repeat with other set of straps.

On each side of the bag, paperclip the straps ends between the placement marks, with the exposed raw end of the lon-ger strap against the right side of the fabric. Baste across the end at 5/8”, making you’re going through both straps.

Fold top edge of bag 1” to inside and paperclip. From the outside, topstitch all the way around at 3/4”, backstitching when you go over each strap.

Repeat topstitching at 1/2”.

Put an additional backstitch over the strap ends at 1/4”.

Note: only go backwards once per backstitch. If you do it too many times, you may perforate the oilcloth to the point that it could tear apart.

Lengthen your stitch length slightly [3.0] so you aren’t per-forating the oilcloth too densely.

If you pin, make sure it’s within the seam allowance, be-cause the holes will remain. Paperclips work better!

If your presser foot is sticking, try putting masking tape on the bottom. You can also set your presser foot pressure to a lower setting if that’s an option on your machine.

There’s no need to zig zag the edges!

For stubborn creases, try using a hairdryer on them for a few seconds to soften the plastic.
