A purpose is the reason something is written.

Authors PurposeAn authors purpose is the reason something is written

1) Narrative-to entertain2) Expository- to inform/ teach3) Technical- to accomplish a task4)Persuasive- to make the reader believe in or do somethingNarrativeNarrative: tells a storyCharacters are introduced.Plot- introduction, rising action, climax, falling action, conclusionEvery narrative must have a problem or conflict.The readers learn the setting, or when and where the story takes place.Examples: Fairy Tales, Fables, Narrative Poetry, Mysteries, Plays, Etc.
