Why did Columbus decide to set sail to the

Indies?•Christopher Columbus realized that the world was not flat and he wanted to prove it.•Columbus asked many Kings and Queens to fund his voyage, finally, The King and Queen of Spain funded his voyage.•King Ferdinand and Queen Isabelle gave Columbus 3 ships and about 100 men to set sail with him•He actually didn’t go to the Indies but he went to islands at the bottom of North America.

And the voyage begins…•Christopher Columbus and his crew set sail August 2, 1942•On October 12, 1942 only 71 days after they set sail, they saw land.•They put a flag in the ground and named it San Salvador for Spain.•Columbus thought that they had landed in the Indies so he called the Native Americans Indians.•They actually landed at the end of Florida.

The Nina•The Nina was the smallest of the three ships.•The ship was between 50 and 60 tons.•It had four sails where as most ships only have three.•The four sails made the ship the best of the three to sail upwind.

The Pinta

•Not much is known about the Pinta.•It was about 70 tons.

The Santa Maria•The Santa Maria was fat and slow.•This was the ship that Christopher Columbus was on.•It was made for carrying cargo.•The ship was rented.
