I wanted to use a field as it creates reality within the film trailer as fields are where you take your dog when going out for a walk etc.

Abandoned Dog scene in a run down estate:

I wanted somewhere that looked derelict, so that the audience would wonder why someone has left a dog that is really cute in a place that has no nature.

House/Home: The use of a family home would create a sense of realism within the trailer as children would relate their home with the one in the trailer. The home suggests a place where you are safe and happy, by bringing the dog home you can now see that the dog is going to be happy in the trailer and safe.
