1. Mise-en-scene in Film Noir 2. There are a lot of certain aspects that help to create the mood or atmosphere in Film Noir, one of these features is the Mise-en-scene and this is what I will be looking into and how it effects the audience. 3. Style The style of Film Noir is very classy, this is to do with the low key lighting and the contrast if characters as well as the scenery this is know as chiaroscuro. This creates a tense mood within the film as it is dark and mysterious. The sharp or crisp lighting is usually created with venetian blinds, however, if this isnt accessible cucoloris cards can be used to slot between the camera lenses and the setting/what you are filming. 4. Aesthetics The use of pathetic fallacy in Film Noir is very common, this is because it is a massive reflection of the scene and mood that is created, the weather within the film is usually cloudy, raining or dreary. This adds to the atmosphere which helps the audience understand the scene and how the characters are feeling in more detail. 5. Building/Setting/Location The typical setting for a Film Noir is an old house, back end alley or throughout a dark street, all these locations imply loneliness and the danger that could come about it; this is a key mood changer that the audience will experience as it will keep them on the edge of their seats. This also incorporates the diegetic lighting from the scene, this helps to create the silhouettes and the shadows from the characters or in fact landscapes. 6.
