FORGIVENESS Nearly ten years before, a son and father had parted ways when the business they shared
went bankrupt. The son blamed the father. They did not speak to each other again.
Then the father became seriously ill. The mother called the son and told him he had better come soon. The son walked sheepishly into the
hospital room. The father motioned his son to him and whispered: “Did you ever think you could do anything that would keep me from loving you?”
Resentment and anger are foul things, the first reading from Sirach tells us. Remember the last things. Stop hating. Live by the command-
ments. As St. Paul writes to the Romans, we are to live for the Lord and die for the Lord.
Jesus’ parable in today’s Gospel reminds us of God’s compassion. The immense sin of hu-manity has been forgiven and stricken from the
record. We are to forgive others in the same way.

Saint John Chrysostom (c. 344-407) September 13 “Speaking truth to power” may have become just another cliché, but doing precisely that cost John “the Golden Mouth” (Chrysostom) his diocese and, after exile and a forced march, his health and life. “Renowned for eloquence, heroic in suffer-ing” (Sacramentary), John’s scriptural insights still comfort and challenge. Mystical theologian, he bids Eastern Christians, whose principal Divine Liturgy bears his name, to lift up their hearts to “God ineffa-ble, beyond comprehension, invisible, beyond under-standing, existing forever, always the same.” Model pastor, he warns Roman Catholics in the Liturgy of the Hours not to neglect God-in-the-flesh: “Would you honor Christ’s body? Do not scorn his naked-ness, honoring him here in church with silken robes, while neglecting him cold and naked outside. What use to burden Christ’s altar with golden chalices, while Christ himself starves to death? What use dressing the altar with gold-woven cloths, while denying the shivering Christ the clothes he needs? Do not adorn the church while ignoring your needy brother: he is the most precious temple of all!”
Eucarística I del Rito Romano.

Saint Michael would like to welcome...
I am Carlos Lopez and I was brought up in Guanajuato, Mexico. My parents are both from Guanajuato and they are merchants so all my life I have worked and studied. I have just one brother who is younger than me. I love my family, having a close relationship, and was raised surrounded by love, thanks God. I am really into swimming and love to go jogging, sightsee-ing and am a big fan of watching movies. I like to know new people and really love pets. I real-ly love eating junk food from time to time like dorilocos, tostadas de cueritos and so on. One of my favorite scriptures is Jeremiah 1:4-9. “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you. Be-fore you were born I dedicated to you; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.” St. Augus-tine is one of my favorite saints. His life encourages me to take seriously my vocation, in spite of the mistakes we have committed, God is always waiting for us. My vocation story is a mys-tery. I had a very different plan for my life. When finishing High School, I bumped into an advertisement about the seminary in Mexico. The ad caught my attention. I called the semi-nary and the director invited me to the “pre-seminario”. During the event I felt a strong call to give my life to God through the priesthood. I think the life in the seminary is a really wo rthy preparation for us, living very close to the sacraments, doing sacrifices etc. As a priest one day I am looking forward to really be a bridge between God and men. I want to inspire with my life through my testimony to other people that it is worthy to be with God. I want to be a saint, and I want to be one of God’s instruments. To other guys thinking about the priesthood, be focused in your happiness and in God’s will. Be brave and try this path. Think about how you can be different, and change the world with your testimony. Don’t be afraid to be with the King.

We would like to remind all Mass at-tendees over the age of 7 years old, that we are required by the Archbishop of At-lanta to wear protective facemasks and social distance during our Mass celebra-tion. The Centers for Disease Control have stated, “the wearing of protective facemasks are one of the most powerful weapons we have to slow and stop the spread of the virus”. Thank you for show-ing your care and respect for all of our brothers and sisters around us.
If for any reason you cannot wear a face-mask throughout the entire Mass, please see an usher and they will find space for you in the social hall or in a classroom downstairs where you can watch the Mass on facebook live.
