What is the Blue Line Club Memorial Endowment?
The purpose of the Blue Line Club Memorial Endowment is to receive all donations and memorials from people interested in MSU Division I hockey. The earnings from the Endowment and proceeds from the golf tournament are currently being used to fund two tuition scholarships and grow the Endowment. As the Endowment which is presently at $250,000 increases, more scholarships will be awarded. The Endowment will continue to serve this purpose forever. The golf tournament and the endowment were created in Dan Meyer’s name to recognize him and his family’s love of MSU hockey and golf. This year, scholarships will be awarded to Lauren Smith. The forward from Burnsville, Minn., was named MSU’s 2010-11 MVP. She played in all 36 games and in addi-tion to leading the Mavericks in assists and shots on goal, also ranked second in the team in points with 4-11--14. Heading into her second year as team captain, Lauren was a WCHA All-Academic and WCHA Scholar-Athlete last year. Michael Dorr - The two-year letterwinner will serve as a team captain as a senior. He finished second on team scoring with 12-14-26 last year and led MSU in goals (12) and game-winning goals (3). For his contribu-tions to MSU’s title run at the Shillelagh Tournament He was named InsideCollegeHockey.com National Player of the Week and Offensive Player of the Week by the WCHA. He also named WCHA Offensive Player of the Week after MSU’s series at St. Cloud State Jan. 28-29 in which he had 2-3--5 in a win and a tie.
