On Monday, February 8, 2010, Dr. Woods will escort another group of

pastors on a life-changing tour of the Holy Land. This pilgrimage will be

educational and transformative. It will also include a worship service in

Jerusalem on the 2nd Sunday of February and will end with an arrival back home on Monday, February 15. Some pastors will be accompanied by their

spouses as they trace the footsteps of Elijah, Peter, and other persons of the

Bible and they will especially walk the same paths and roads Jesus walked.

On Sunday, May 31, Dr. Woods served as the guest preacher during the Morning Worship Services at Decatur Bible Chapel. The church is located at 3355 Snapfinger Road in Lithonia and is under the pastoral oversight of Dr. Fenton Richards. Decatur Bible Chapel was organized in 1991 under the leadership of Dr. T. Michael Flowers. The ministry began with 54 members and has grown tremendously. Dr. Flowers presently serves as Pastor Emeritus. They meet every Sunday for Sunday School at 10:15 am and for Worship Services at 11:30 am. Every Tuesday evening at 7:30 pm you can join them for Bible Study.

On Sunday, June 14 Dr. Woods served as the guest preacher during the 10:45 am Worship Services at Fairfield Baptist Church. The occasion was the 32nd Anniversary of the pastoral family of Rev. Michael Benton, First Lady Yvonne Benton, their children, grandchildren and sons-in-law. Fairfield was organized in 1885 and presently has a membership of about 3000. They meet for worship every Sunday at 7:30 am and at 10:45 am, with Sunday School being held at 9:15 am. Bible Study meets each week both at 12 noon and at 7:00 pm. JOHN 3:16 “GOD’S LOVE FOR YOU”

This passage can be described as a miniature Bible within itself because it explains the entire theme of the Scripture. From the time of Adam and Eve’s rejection of God, our heavenly Father has been engaged in a mission to redeem mankind and reconcile him to a proper relationship with his Creator. Man’s redemption and salvation was predicted in Genesis 3:15, Deuteronomy 18:15, Isaiah 7:14, Micah 5:2, Isaiah 53 and in other passages, centuries before the birth of Jesus Christ. When Jesus came into this world as the Savior, He was fulfilling a well-thought-out plan of bestowing the love of God on humankind and John 3:16 explains that plan. Because of its limitless reach, this verse can be called the greatest verse in the Bible. Consider its rich teachings and profound truths of God’s love just for you. God: The Greatest God ~ In the first of the 10 commandments, Jehovah God states that there are other gods beside Him (Exodus 20:1-3) but all are revealed as false gods. Many have eyes but they cannot see. They have hands but they cannot save. Many have ears and feet but cannot respond to anyone’s needs. There is only one true and living God Who formed this universe and can bestow love and kindness upon His creation (Isaiah 46:9-10). Jehovah is the greatest. So Loved: The Greatest Concern ~ Love can be described as “a heartfelt interest that compels one to seek the very best for another, in spite of the faults of that person.” God’s love proceeds from the fact that “God is love” (1 John 4:8; 16). God is all-knowing, all-powerful and everywhere-present but His basic make-up and consistency is l-o-v-e. Because He is a loving God, He is completely interested in our welfare and can do nothing less than seek our greatest good (Jeremiah 31:3). The World: The Greatest Reach ~ Some of the Pharisees of Jesus’ day thought that God only loved the people of Israel; therefore, this statement was startling to them. While surprising to the Jew, it is revelatory to us for it reveals the heart of God for all human beings. His love is not confined to any select group or individual; but is offered to all without distinction and without exception. As the song says, “Jesus loves the little children of the world; red, yellow, black and white; all are precious in his sight” (2 Peter 3:9). He Gave: The Greatest Response ~ Love is only convincing by what it does and not by what it says. Love does not seek to take but it looks for what it can give. As sinful as mankind is, God’s passion for our well-being would not allow Him to condemn us but it moved Him to give us the Savior we so badly needed (2 Corinthians 5:19). His Only Begotten Son: The Greatest Gift ~ How did God prove his love? By stretching divine sacrifice to its limit in the giving of His one and only begotten Son as an offering for mankind’s sins (Romans 5:6-8). Whosoever Believes: The Greatest Decision ~ The way into relationship with God is by faith in Jesus. This faith evidences itself by repentance of one’s sins and submission to God (James 2:19-20). Man is the master of his own course of life and eternal destiny (Deuteronomy 30:11-20; Romans 10:6-13). Where and in whom we place our faith determines our fate and faith in Christ brings about a person’s salvation. Eternal Life or Eternal Death: The Greatest Possibility ~ The greatest experience of life is to walk every day in harmony and in peace with our Creator. As we do this, we enjoy the best

benefit package available anywhere (Psalm 103:1-5). Our benefit package also comes with its own golden parachute, for one of the realities of life is the inevitability of death (Hebrews 9:27). All Christians have the promise that at physical death, their souls and spirits will immediately ascend into the presence of the Lord (2 Corinthians 5:1-8; Philippians 1:20-24). This promise was modeled and guaranteed by the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ (1 Corinthians 15:1-6). This possibility of eternal life with the Lord is the greatest of hopes but the possibility of spending eternity separated from God is life’s greatest risk. The choice belongs to each of us. The ABC’s: The Greatest Decision ~ It is as uncomplicated as the ABC’s (Romans 10:9-10). Acknowledge your spiritually deficiencies and your need for the Lord. Believe that Jesus died for your sins and that He arose from the dead. Confess your sins to Him, repent from everything you know to be wrong and confess him as Lord. He will save you, He will transform your life and He will secure you safely in Him for the rest of your life and for all eternity. God loves us but we cannot experience that love until we surrender our lives to Him and allow Him to save us. That is when we really begin to enjoy God’s Love for Us.
