There is no commonly delineated Line of Actual Control (LAC) in the border areas between lndia and China. From time to time, on account of differences in the perception of the LAC, situations have arisen on the ground that could have been avoided if we had a common perception of the LAC. 3. Government regularly takes up any transgression along the LAC with the Chinese side through established mechanisms including border personnel meetings, flag meetings, meetings of Working fi/echanism for Consultation & Coordination on lndia-China Border Affairs, as well as through diplomatic channels. 4. The Government consistently maintains that peace and tranquility in the lndia- China border areas is an important pre-requisite for the smooth development of bilateral relations. 5. lf you are aggrieved with this reply, you may file an appeal to Dr. Amit Telang, Director (East Asia) & Appellate Authority, IVlinistry of External Affairs, South Block, New Delhi - 1 1001 1 , within a month from the date of receipt of this letter.
