Ministry Here and Ministry There: The Tale of Two Meals Friday night, June 23, will be a ministry meal here at Grace Baptist Church w with an international flavor. Dr. Lance Muteyo will be our guest for a special gathering sponsored by Dr. Fakhoury and the Missions Committee. Daniel Buttry, our Grace Baptist Church adopted missionary, has trained Dr. Muteyo in peace-making and conflict resolution and Muteyo now leads the Pan African Peace Council. He will be telling his story and describing his work at 6:30 in our narthex. This Friday meal will be prepared by Garmai, William, Julia and other members of our congregation from Liberia. There is no charge for the meal, though gifts may be made to Dr. Muteyo and his peace-making efforts in Africa. Please call Beth to make reservations. 816-452-0212. And next Wednesday, June 28, we will eat again for our monthly Wednesday evening gathering. We have been invited by our new neighbors at Community Apartments to see their new home and enjoy their community room. Linda Cain will take the leadership in meal preparation and Victoria Durham will speak about the dreams and plans of our newest housing facility. And remember the routine to call Beth (816-452-0212 or [email protected]) and make a reservation for the 5:30 meal. Drive to the Community Apartments, 5400 NE Chouteau Parkway, and park in any available space. We look forward to seeing you next Wednesday as we actualize our purpose statement to “love one another and to share God’s love with all people."
$3000 Grant to Grace Baptist Church
Grace Baptist Church has received a $3000 grant from the Great Rivers Region of American Baptist Churches to support the work of our Summer Minister, Maw Rach Taw. This gift has arrived after the submission of a grant application in May signed by our moderator, Bill Turnage. The support is from the Des Peres Legacy Fund which receives gifts from the America for Christ Offering, United Missions, and designated gifts to the Region. We are grateful for your faithful giving to support the cooperative work of our sister congregations in Missouri and Illinois. Maw Rach will write a report to the committee upon completion of his assignment at Grace in August.

Grace Baptist Church Youth Retreat and Float Trip
Windermere Baptist Conference Center
June 8-11, 2017
We started driving to Youth Retreating Camp. When we got there, we checked in, rented the cabins, and we also explored the cave the same day. We worshiped with other church members and we also worshiped with other youth from other churches. We did a lot of swimming during the day. We also did some hiking to the chapel on the hill and worshiped God there. After every day at the camp, we made a campfire. During the campfire we talked about our day and Pastor Jerry would teach us lessons in the Bible that’s related to life. Canoeing at the Niangua River was an amazing experience for most of us. Some of our youth tipped their canoes over, but at the end of the day, we were thankful that we made it. Most of us wished we had more days to spend there. It was a lot of fun. I want to thank all the sponsors for sponsoring and praying for us youth to go and have fun and be safe. It would be impossible for us to go out there without you all. Thank you sponsors!
