To know the history of the games and the significance of the principles behind the games.

To understand some of the training and discipline required to become an Olympic athlete.

To know about the participants of the 2012 Olympic games.

To enjoy competing in a range of disciplines.

Prior to the Games

The children made flags to represent their teams.

They learnt about the diet and training regimes of the athletes.

In lessons the children learnt about the different participants of the games.

Opening Ceremony The children learnt about the traditions of the

opening ceremony and the Olympic values. The children celebrated the spirit of the games with an opening ceremony.

dressed in colours to represent different countries.

The children sang the national anthem of Great Britain the host nation of the Olympics.

Events

The children competed in a range of disciplines.

These included track and field events.

The children trained in their PE lessons prior the day.
