First impressions count: on the MINI Cooper Coupé, the radiator grille slats are chrome-plated, the exterior mirrors are finished in the same contrast colour as the roof, and the side scuttles with built-in white direction indicator lights are in black. THE FINISHING touch.
The exterior mirror caps come as standard in the same contrast colour as the roof on all MINI Coupé models.
Even when the MINI Coupé is not moving it looks quick. Where the roof is in black, the sport stripes on the bonnet and rear are in the same colour. However, the roof stripes are in Body Colour, making a striking contrast. Sport stripes can also be found on the MINI Roadster, on the bonnet and rear.
Sport stripes in silver give the MINI Coupé a particularly elegant look. Here too, the roof is in the same colour as the stripes on the bonnet and rear of the car, while the stripes on the roof are in body colour. The white direction indicator lights feature clear glass in the front, rear, and side scuttle direction indicator lights.
A cool feature: the side windows and rear windscreen are tinted a darker colour. Even cooler: darkened rear glass reduces the build-up of heat in the interior of the car caused by strong sunlight, so the driver never feels the heat.
The rear lights feature LED technology. The direction indicator is ring-shaped, and is positioned in the middle of the main light, while the brake light is split into two sections, above and below the main light. The unique LED light ring means the MINI is instantly recognisable, even at night.

1. The rev counter is positioned in the middle of the steering column. The upper display shows the current speed, while the lower display is used for features such as the trip counter or the Shift Point Display, which recommends the best gear for fuel economy at any given moment.
3. When activated, the rain sensor automatically switches on the windscreen wipers and adjusts their speed to how hard it is raining. When it gets dark, the built-in light sensor activates the headlights automatically as required.

The Openometer measures how long the car has been driving with the top open, counting and saving each minute from the moment the top is fully open and the engine is running. Trips with the top down of up to seven hours are displayed directly, and the total time is stored by the on-board computer.
Want the top-down experience with none of the turbulence? The wind deflector for the MINI Roadster is the perfect solution. It is easily attached between the roll-over bars, and significantly reduces draughts, as well as noise.
Semi-automatic soft-top roof. With the semi-automatic soft-top, the only action that is carried out by hand is securing it to or releasing it from the windscreen frame. Lowering the roof, including locking it in the open position, is carried out at the push of a button, as is raising it. This button is found in the toggle bar on the windscreen frame, directly next to the switch for the active rear spoiler. The entire process takes less than 10 seconds, and can even be carried out while the vehicle is in motion, at speeds of up to 20 mph.

The air conditioning system with microfilter means passengers can enjoy their ideal interior temperature, whatever the conditions outside. The amount and distribution of conditioned air can be individually adjusted.
The heated front windscreen allows you to heat the front windscreen at the touch of a button, and also includes the rain sensor and automatic headlight activation.
Automatic air conditioning rapidly adjusts the interior temperature to the selected level, and then keeps it there. The built-in active carbon filter protects passengers against unpleasant odours from outside.

Concept and safety.
Fitted as standard, DYNAMIC STABILITY CONTROL (DSC) counteracts incipient loss of grip by intervening in the engine management and applying braking force to individual wheels at the front and rear as necessary. Should the inner wheel lose too much traction, the optional Dynamic Traction Control (DTC) with Electronic Differential Lock Control (EDLC) will apply braking to it, ensuring the car maintains forward momentum through corners and on surfaces with variable levels of grip. At the same time, it enables more torque to be applied to the outer wheel. This option is standard on the MINI John Cooper Works Coupé and Roadster.
ADAPTIVE HEADLIGHTS. This option, featuring automatic headlight beamthrow control, ensures optimum illumination whether driving in city or country, and allows drivers to see further ahead on the motorway. Sensors measure the steering angle, rotational speed of the wheels and vehicle speed, and electric motors then adjust the position of the light beam accordingly. Only available in conjunction with Vision Pack.

BRAKE SYSTEM. Four disc brakes with Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) and Cornering Brake Control (CBC) as standard ensure optimum braking performance in any situation. Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD) manages the distribution of braking force between the front and rear axles. Brake assist also supports this process, to deliver maximum braking force and ensure the shortest possible stopping distances.
RACK-AND-PINION STEERING. Electric power assist ensures outstanding steering responses, with the driver receiving precise and involving feedback. The steering is lighter at low speeds and stiffer at high speeds, for ease of control at all times. For maximum comfort, it is only 2.4 turns from lock to lock.
SUSPENSION. The combination of a single-link spring-strut front axle and a multi-link rear axle with wide track and a low centre of gravity results in the unmistakable MINI feeling: stable, agile, with optimum cornering ability at all speeds, plus superb traction and outstanding safety.

BODY. The body of the MINI Coupé has been reinforced at strategic points, guaranteeing extreme torsional rigidity for an exceedingly robust passenger compartment. This enables the MINI Coupé to combine speed, safety and agile responses, even in adverse conditions.
The MINI Coupé and MINI Roadster are fitted as standard with four AIRBAGS: driver and passenger airbags protect the head and upper body in the event of a head-on collision, while head/thorax airbags in the seats reduce the risk of injuries to the head, chest and abdominal areas from side impacts for the driver and front passenger.

Added safety at higher speeds. The ACTIVE REAR SPOILER fitted to the MINI Coupé and MINI Roadster automatically deploys when the vehicle surpasses the 50 mph mark. This provides greater downforce over the rear axle, and therefore improves ride stability. When the vehicle speed falls back below 37 mph, it automatically retracts back into the tailgate. The rear spoiler on both models can also be operated manually at the touch of a button.
The MINI Roadster features two ROLL-OVER BARS. Together with the extra-stiff windscreen frames, they protect passengers in the event of the vehicle rolling over. In addition, the roll-over protection system, in conjunction with a wide range of reinforcements, maximises torsional rigidity for an exceedingly robust passenger compartment. Best of all though, the two roll-over bars are made of polished stainless steel, and look fantastic.

AUTOMATIC START/STOP FUNCTION1. The Automatic Start/Stop function (manual transmission only) means that when the engine is idling – for example, at a red light or in a traffic jam – it is automatically switched off. As soon as the clutch pedal is depressed, the engine is switched back on.
SHIFT POINT DISPLAY 1. The Shift Point Display (manual transmission only) tells you via instructions in the revolution counter what gear you should be in to maximise fuel economy, reducing your emissions and your expenditure on fuel.

BRAKE ENERGY REGENERATION1. Brake Energy Regeneration uses Intelligent Alternator Control to convert unneeded kinetic energy into electricity. When the driver’s foot is not on the gas, more energy is diverted to charging the battery than when the car is under acceleration.
COMMON-RAIL TECHNOLOGY. High-pressure injection at a consistent 1,600 bar and multiple pre-injections ensure the diesel enters the cylinder as a fine mist, which makes the engine run more quietly and improves both output and fuel economy.
FULLY VARIABLE VALVE TIMING. Fully variable timing of intake valve lift increases power output while simultaneously improving the efficiency of combustion. On all models with petrol engines.

warranty. Every MINI is supplied with a three-year unlimited mileage dealer warranty. (This excludes wear-and-tear parts, for example brake pads.) Every MINI also comes with a 12-year anti-corrosion warranty, which covers the vehicle against rusting of the body panels. This warranty is dependent on any previous damage to the vehicle body or under-body (e.g. stone impact damage, scratches, dents, accident damage or other damage caused by environmental factors) having been correctly repaired in accordance with current MINI guidelines. The painted surfaces of the car are covered by a three-year warranty. This excludes any damage to painted surfaces caused by improper treatment or unforeseen environmental factors. The statutory rights of the consumer are unaffected.

recycling. At every stage, from design to disassembly, recycling is central to the MINI philosophy. For example, all the materials used in its manufacture were selected because they can be used in the most sustainable and environmentally friendly way possible. That way, every MINI can be efficiently and ecologically recycled when its driving days are finally done. We have been working on this approach since 1994 at the BMW Group Recycling and Disassembly Centre in Munich, the only facility of its kind.
