Datchworth Rugby Football Club 1 Datchworth Rugby Football Club Mini Awards Day - End of 2015/16 Season Hello Datchworth Mini Section Coaches, Managers, Players, Parents and Supporters, 34 weeks passed during the course of the last rugby season. The 2015/16 season started back in September, it was a season that saw the Rugby World Cup come and go, the 6 Nations came and went and our Club has notched up a very successful Season culminating in the First XV win over Stevenage at Allianz Park last Saturday. IwouldliketothanktheTuckShopGirls,thisseasonwithoutfailNiamhhasrunthetuck-shopsupportedatdifferenttimesbyElizabethandCerys.Throughouttheseasonthetuck-shophasbeenpopularwithourplayersandvisitorsandhashelpedtoraisemoneydirectlyfortheMiniSectionactivities,IwouldliketothankNiamh,ElizabethandCerysforanotherseasonofhardworkandcommitment.
4. OnelastpersonthoughdeservesspecialmentionattheendofthisSeason.IthinkitisveryimportanttoacknowledgethatSteveCorleyhassteppeddownfromrunningourClubkitchen.Stevehascomeeveryweek,nottosupportaplayingchild,notforfinancialbenefitbutsimplytosupportourClub.ThroughouttheSeasonSteveandhisfamilyhavecookedweekinandweekoutandhewillbeveryhardtoreplace.IwaspleasedtobeableonbehalfofMiniandYouthRugbyatDatchworthtopresentStevewithasmalltokenofourappreciation.

TheU9s.....TheteamheadeddowntoAllianzParkfortheirlastevergamesasUnder9sintheADVWChampionsEventhavingqualifiedinJanuary.FirstupwasChichester,averylargeoutfit.Ourboyswereupforthechallengeandputinsomesupertacklingtokeeptheirattacksatbay.Howeverwereallystruggledtogetthroughtheirline,repeatedlygettingsmothertackledandturningtheballover.Thestorycontinuedintothesecondhalf,withourattacksalsothwartedbyapressdefenceontheedgeoftheoffsideline.Thegamefinished0-5toChichesterwhowentontobefinalistsandwewerewellbeatenbyabetterbiggerside,butfeltunluckywiththemargin.OursecondgamewasagainstOG's,whowedidwellagainstthisseasoninafriendly.Despitethefirstlosstheboysreallysteppedupandthegamewasveryeven,withtriesgoinginendtoendandourfastattackabletogetroundtheirdefence.Wewere2-1upathalftime.InthesecondhalfItcontinuedinthesamemanner,butwehadacoupleofunfortunateturnoverswhichswingthependulumtheotherwayandwithafinaltryOG'sscrapedit3-4.

OnelastgamewasagainstHampstead.SomemotivationalteamtalkfromWoodyandWarrenreallyouttheboysbackinawinningframeofmindandwetookthegametoopposition,leading4-2athalftime.DespiteacoupleofwobblydefensivelapseswemanagedtokeepittogetherwithsomegreatrunningfromMylesandTom,winningourlastgame5-4.
TheU10s.....TheU10shadaverytoughdrawthisyearfacinglastSeasonsoverallfestivalwinnersMedway1s,Canterbury1sandouroldfestivalfoeFinchley1s.
Theplayersallgaveanexcellentaccountofthemselvesplayingwithdiscipline,structureandintensityinallthreefixtures.WeachievedourfirstobjectiveofgoinghomehavingscoredamemorableteamtrythatwasaseverfinishedbyElliotClifford!Wedidn’tprogressfromthepoolstagesthisyearbuttheboysallhadagreattime,enjoyedtheexperience,andenjoyedthesunshine,thepizzaandofcoursetheSaracenswin!
