A few words about this internationallyknown program-
Through the years I've studied manyrelaxation and meditation techniques and Ialways return to the simplicity of mindful-ness meditation. I interned at UMASSMedical School in The Stress ReductionProgram under the direction of Jon Kabat-Zinn and Saki Santorelli and am now in myninth year of teaching this course. Thisprogram, in which mindfulness meditationis a core component, was featured on BillMoyers' PBS documentary Healing andthe Mind as well as on NBC, ABC and invarious national print media.
More than 16,000 people have completedthe program, learning to use meditation andtheir innate resources to respond moreeffectively to stress, pain and illness.Meditation is not a cure, but an effectiveadjunct to medical and mental healththerapies. This has been demonstrated intwo decades of published research inwhich the majority of the people whocompleted the program reported experienc-ing lasting decreases in psychological andphysical symptoms.

If you're nervous about the idea of learning tomeditate. . .
The first thing most people tell me uponmeeting to learn more about the MindfulnessStress Reduction Program is that they don'tbelieve they can learn to meditate. Otherpeople, yes-but them, no. Here's what I'vecome to know: if you can breathe, you canmeditate. In this program you are progres-sively taught a simple and user-friendly wayto reduce stress. We begin by noticing what isgoing on in our minds, bodies and around us,and learn to respond rather than react tothoughts, feelings, people and events. Littleby little the noise in our head quiets and ourlives become more manageable.
