Afternoon Tea Audience: My afternoon tea idea will be dedicated to the elderly but also 50+. This is due to the fact that they would have gained a lot of money overtime which means they are able to afford the afternoon tea experience. Normally e.g. Betties, they sell afternoon teas for £15 this is quite an expensive price so I would have thought that the elderly would be able to afford that kind of price, due to pensions and other factors. Also elderly people have a lot of spare time on their hands to make the products if they wanted, this will means they get creative and learn new skills everyday. Recipes: For the recipe side of things I was thinking of making the traditional meals but so that it’s affordable to make at home. The different foods would be little cakes e.g. chocolate cake, carrot cake etc. This is an example of the kind of recipe that would be suitable for vegans. For vegetarians a normal mix would be okay also. Sandwiches can also be suitable for vegans and vegetarians, discussing fillings will be 4 cups grated carrot 2 cups whole wheat flour 2 teaspoon baking powder 1 teaspoon baking soda ½ teaspoon salt 1 teaspoon cinnamon ¼ teaspoon ground ginger 1 ½ cups demerera or brown sugar ¾ cup raisins ½ cup chopped pecans 1 cup unsweetened applesauce 1 cup canola oil Cream cheese icing ⅓ cup vegan margarine (softened) ⅓ cup vegan cream cheese 2 ⅓ cups icing sugar 1 teaspoon vanilla extract Images: I would take the images myself as I have a camera. The images that I was going to cooperate on the recipe card was to have one huge detailed image of the final one then have a close up so that our audience really understand the textures and ingredients. The background of these images will look sophisticated so it will be laid out on a table so it looks homely but also elegant at the same time. The colour throughout those images will be whites and pastel colours as they go with anything and give a nice feel to the images. Theme: I was thinking of making the theme of the recipe cards as quite old fashioned, it is known that people from younger ages are understanding afternoon tea but I think it’s important to go back to the roots of the 17 th century. A good theme would be to contrasts the old with the new so a wider audience can look and them and finding them interesting. The food will be similar to the traditional afternoon tea which makes it old fashioned. The modernisation of the recipe cards will be how the images are laid out and how the background is laid out. I was thinking of involving pink flowers around the outside of the card so that Artwork: There shouldn’t be to much artwork except for the production side on the computers . The only things that would involve me to get creative on paper would be to draw ideas down on the layouts of the recipe cards. This would be multiple sketches that would help to pick out a strong theme for the whole card altogether. Production Method & design: When doing these recipe cards I will be doing most of the production on the computers. This is due to the technology software, this will help me to produce objects and shapes which can make my recipe card stand out. I will put the recipe and step by step guide on the back of the card, this will make it easier for the person to collect the ingredients but to also produce the product. I would also put the close up of the photography image on the back whilst the big image

Afternoon Tea

Audience: My afternoon tea idea will be dedicated to the elderly but also 50+.

Sandwiches can also be suitable for vegans and vegetarians, discussing fillings will be researched further.

Images: I would take the images myself as I have a camera.

Theme: I was thinking of making the theme of the recipe cards as quite old fashioned, it is known that people from younger ages are understanding afternoon tea but I think it’s important to go back to the roots of the 17th century. A good theme would be to contrasts the old with the new so a wider audience can look and them and finding them interesting. The food will be similar to the traditional afternoon tea which makes it old fashioned. The modernisation of the recipe cards will be how the images are laid out and how the background is laid out. I was thinking of involving pink flowers around the outside of the card so that it added a florescent, girly theme to it. I don’t want it to just be for females but the afternoon tea theme was known to be for women to do in

the afternoons.

Artwork: There shouldn’t be to much artwork except for the production side on the computers .

I would also put the close up of the photography image on the back whilst the big image will be on the front so that it looks appetising and exciting. I was also thinking that having a drawing of the afternoon stacks will add to the tradition and the British culture.

Drinks on the Go

Audience: I’d dedicate this idea to young adults from 20-30 years. I believe this idea would go with them because they are always active, they have a new job or children in their life so to make a drink for yourself before you leave for work then it means you can be healthy at the same time. What’s good about this is that you can control what your making into the drink, it can different fruits, vegetables etc. Instead of just making the same old food, you can make the drinks that would fit with someone’s crazy lifestyle.

Recipes: I was planning on showing just one recipe on the card so that it’s the basic idea but the good part of this is that you can add any fruit or veg you want and it would work. An example of a smoothie would be the ‘breakfast smoothie’ this would be suitable for vegetarians because it only contains fruit and honey which is refreshing. I would also be using milkshakes because they can be refreshing especially banana flavours which are classic amongst the young adults.

Image: I think the theme for this idea would be quite vibrant and fun. When you see a milkshake or smoothie in a shop on or a picture you want it to look amazing so that people automatically want it. This is what I would do, I would get the brightest or vibrant smoothie and put it on my recipe card. This means it would catch the audience’s eye, this is an advantage because then they would want to know if it’s healthy and tasty. By having a ugly boring drink then they would look straight past it. The images would be both on the back and front , you wouldn’t need a detailed image of the product because there shouldn’t be any fault in making your own drink. The colours and the way it looks would look exactly the same as the image as long as they follow the recipe. By having the final image, it will help make the recipe card more vibrant and exciting.

Production and theme: I will be using the Photoshop method to create designs and templates around the card, I was thinking of making the layout quite blue so that it looks very summery. Even though you can make cold smoothies and milkshakes during the year, it’s only the best in the summer. Also summery colours like blue and bright yellows really bring out the excitement in the cards. By having a bright coloured background it means the photography images look more vibrant and colourful. Whilst doing this on Photoshop I was thinking of adding a border around the card so that the focus was on the image and text. I will be using mixed media for this idea, by drawing sketches and scanning them into the computer so that I can make the create layout on Photoshop.

1 small ripe banana about 140g blackberries, blueberries, raspberries or strawberries (or use a mix), plus extra to serve apple juice or mineral water, optional runny honey , to serve’http://www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/3117/breakfast-smoothie

Font: I was hoping that I could find a strong font for my recipe cards. Whilst researching I found either the Helvetica font or Script which is quite fancy and makes the letters look more old fashioned, this kind of work would be modern and bold. I think Helvetica would be better for this as it get’s the words across. Times New Roman was also an option because it was easier to read which would be good for my target audience. They will be able to understand it straight away if they were in a rush.

Healthy Snack for Children

Audience: This idea is for children, by making healthy snacks then they are able to enjoy there hobbies whilst collecting there 5 a day. Children are always known to active and do sports as there are so many opportunities out there, so to give them a product that would be suitable for vegetarians and vegans then it would be a bonus. This would also help to contribute them into a balanced diet which is very important for when you are younger. When children go out and do sports they will need a high demand in energy, this will help add to the energy amount. Children from the age of 4-11 would be suitable to this as it’s easy to make and can be colourful which is exciting for children to eat. This product would have to be advertised to families as they will be the ones making it with their children so it’s important that it catches both the children's eye and the parents.

Theme: The theme would but colourful yet sophisticated, if there was to much colour then it would take away of the factors of the actual recipe card. The theme would have bright green and purple backgrounds, this depends on which food products we show on the recipe cards. We would do a collection of them so the children can collect the different food products. Children find it fun to collect and find out things so by collecting the recipe cards it means they can learn new skills and start to get interested in cooking themselves. The background will yet be bright and colourful whilst the font is bold and big. This is an advantage as the card is eye catching but when you go closer you see the big bold writing which tells you what to do. The images would be bright coloured because of the fruit and vegetables used for the snacks. We would also introduce a cartoon character on the packaging so that the children can recognise the character. This makes it more childish and adventurous.

Artwork: The art work that I will be doing for this project would be quite creative. I would draw sketches of the cartoon character and see if it’s suitable, once I have done this then I would scan it in so that I could use Photoshop to Rotoscope it. The more creative and exciting it is then the more the children will like it. I was planning on using a fruit character and then using a speech bubble to say ‘FRUIT IS YUMMY’ this will tell the children that they should eat the fruit just like the character tells them too.

Images: The images will be happy and enjoyable. I would try to make the snacks look as creative as possible, by having a mixture of fruit in one bowl, instead of being boring I could put those fruit into cars characters or people. This makes the food more exciting and enjoyable to eat if they did that themselves. When they try to make a snack then they would try make there food into those characters which is funny but also fun. I would put the products on a picnic mat in the garden which shows the children an outdoor environment in which they can play in.

Recipes: The recipes will all be based on fruit and vegetables, this is easier than other products because it’s food that both vegetarians and vegans can eat. The different food snacks I’d involve is:- Hobnobs (this can be crushed to that it makes a biscuit texture, this can be mixed with berries and strawberries which makes it tasty yet healthy at the same time).- chocolate e.g. Lindt (this can be mixed with fruit so that it makes them all stick together, it can be a treat but would still give you the energy you would need when doing your hobbie.- Fruit and vegetables (you can make fruit salads with that so that it’s tasty and refreshing from when you need a break from sports etc.)
