MICROCONTROLLERS
Microprocessors and microcontrollers are widely used in embedded systems products.
Microcontroller is a programmable device.
A microcontroller has a CPU in addition to a fixed amount of RAM, ROM, I/O ports and
a timer embedded all on a single chip
8051 is an 8-bit processor, meaning that the CPU can work on only 8 bits of data at atime
The microcontroller used in this project is AT89S8252. Atmel Corporation introduced
this 89C51 microcontroller.

PORTS
The four ports P0, P1, P2 and P3 each use 8 pins, making them 8-bit ports.
All the ports upon RESET are configured as input, since P0-P3 have value FFH on them.
Port 0 is also designated as AD0-AD7, allowing it to be used for both address and data.
Port 1 is an 8-bit bi-directional I/O port with internal pull-ups.
With no external memory connection, P2 are used as simple I/O.
Port 3 is an 8-bit bi-directional I/O port with internal pull-ups.

MINE DETECTION The first devices designed to explode on target contact were floating mines first
employed by the US confederate Navy in 1861.
Reference was made to these mines during the Battle of Williamsburg in 1862.
The British Army was interested to use landmines during there African campaigns in
the 1880s.
On May 4th 1862 while scouting a road, a horse rider activated one of these mines
becoming the first person killed by a pressure-operated landmine.

NEW TYPES OF LANDMINES
Anti-Tamper landmines:
New landmines are designed with mechanisms in place to detonate if they aremoved, altered or attempts to defuse them are made.
Anti-Detection landmines:
New landmines have also been fitted with electronic devices to detect the presenceof magnetic fields and other associated detection fields. If detected they maydetonate in order to not be disarmed.
