The "Find & Replace" technique is a LottoMasta innovation and not available elsewhere (at least until the copy-cats catch up). Manual Conversion instructions start on page 14.

"Find & Replace" is easier than manual conversion, especially with larger systems, provided you follow the rules carefully. It also removes the need for expensive Lotto software - you simply use any word processor. We will use a LottoMasta 5 from 5 System to illustrate the concept.

Step 1 First COPY THE SYSTEM YOU WANT AND PASTE IT INTO A NEW DOCUMENT. As long as you preserve your original book, you can always start over again if you make a mistake. Also, preserving the original allows you to change numbers as often as you want.

Step 2 Next enter your eight numbers in the boxes provided.

Step 3 Select (highlight) all the games to be played.

Step 4 In MS Word (or any word-processor), select Edit, then Replace. Click "More" and TICK "FIND WHOLE WORDS ONLY." It is vital you tick this box. You may need to click "more" to find this box.

Step 5 In the "Find What" box, enter 101. In the "Replace With" box, enter 48. Select "Replace All." When asked, "Do you want to search the rest of the document, answer "NO."

Step 6 Now change the "Find and Replace" to the next two numbers - in our example, 102 and 35. Select "Replace All." When asked, "Do you want to search the rest of the document, answer "NO."

Step 7 Continue doing this until you have searched and replaced all the numbers. Note: It is easy to keep your place - the last number replaced will be highlighted in "Find & Replace" (at least it will in MS Word.) Take your time and this is a very simple exercise

Step 8 Do this example as an exercise. The finished result should be as follows -

Important

If you follow the instructions exactly, this is a simple exercise. If you don't, you will probably get in mess. For example, if you use 34 as one of your numbers - it includes 3 and 4 - if you don't tick "Find whole numbers only" it will change 3, 4, and 34. Please follow the instructions carefully and you will find this is an easy exercise.

Hot Tip:

The ORDER of your numbers creates different Systems. You can create many different Systems - all with the Guaranteed result - simply by changing the order of the numbers.

If you think the numbers could be better, try again using a different order for your 10 numbers. You can create several systems if you wish and choose to play the one that appeals to you most. I do this personally, as do most lotto experts.

Instructions for Manual Conversion of Your Numbers appear below - To personalize your numbers manually is simply a matter of substitution.

Mark your 10 numbers in the Template, in any order. For your 1st

number, you have chosen 48. Put a “48” everywhere “101” appears in the 48 individual games Template. For your 2nd number, you have chosen 35. Put a “35” everywhere “102” appears in the 48 individual games. Continue this until you have substituted all 10 of your numbers for the numbers 1-10 appearing in the Template.

Same example as before, for 8 numbers -Your No's: 101

The Legend of Bad-Luck Baz

Be Scared. Very Scared. This could happen to You!

In darkest outback Australia, Bad-Luck Baz was already on his third beer of the day. One more, he reckoned, and I’ll get out of bed and make breakfast. Baz had been on a roll for over a year now. All downhill rolling. He cursed the clairvoyant on a daily basis, sometimes several times a day.

Baz’s run of bad luck had started in December. By February of the following year, he was a world-wide sensation – the unluckiest man in the world. Undisputed champion. The clairvoyant had warned him it was ‘good news, bad news.’ If only he had listened. ‘If only’ was a phrase Baz used a lot these days.

It had started innocently enough. Clairvoyant Kate had covered his marriage breakup and subsequent divorce in surprising detail, gone on to how he lost his job, and added some fascinating details Baz thought he had covered up well; she was good. It was then Baz made his fatal mistake. “Don’t suppose you could give me Saturday’s lottery numbers" Baz had joked. She had held his left hand tightly – to allow physic flow, she assured him – put a pencil in his right hand and paper before him. She had then done a very credible impression of a trance.

With a good foreign accent for effect, she had reeled off:

1, 3, 10, 15, 18, 24, 28, 29, 32, 35, 38, 40

before collapsing on the table, completely drained by the effort. She was good, very good, Baz thought – lovely sense of theatre. ‘Ze seeks are in zere zomewhere’ she had assured Baz.

Then she put on her most ominous look. ‘But, I zee gut and bad news. Knowing ze seeks winning numbers may bring you pain; be very careful.’ Sod you, Baz had thought – give me the numbers and let me worry about being happy.

By the next day, the numbers had got to him. They wouldn’t go away. ‘What if the six winning numbers really are in there?’ The more he thought about it, the more convinced he was. They WERE there. But Baz had a problem. He counted up his meagre funds. $662 in total. He knew there were 924 different six-number combinations in twelve numbers – but he hadn’t got $924. Still, he reckoned, if I play 662 different combinations I’m covering over two-thirds of all possible combinations.

By lunchtime he was convinced. Baz sat down at the kitchen table and, starting at 1-3-10-15-18-24, he started writing out as many six number combinations as he could think of, using only the twelve numbers the clairvoyant had given him. ‘Ze seeks are in zere zomewhere’ he muttered to himself as he worked, carefully numbering the games. By 8 pm he had got to 662 games – having stopped at 600 to count his money again ‘just in case.’

The two-day wait to Saturday night had seemed an eternity. But the big day came. He just KNEW he had the winners.

Number 32 the blonde announcer beamed. Baz smiled. Number 28 she continued. Number 38; Baz now had a smile broader than the announcer. Number 40; the adrenalin flowed ever more strongly. Number 29 – Baz wondered if all lottery winners peed in their pants, because he was about to. Number 35, number 35, he coaxed. Number 35 the announcer beamed. People told Baz later his 'YES' had been heard three streets away. All six. Glorious. He poured a strong whisky and sat down to check how many wins he had in his 662 games – Baz knew you got multiple winners with so many games.

Here are the 662 games Baz checked. How many games can you find with four winning numbers or more from the six winning numbers drawn: 28, 29, 32, 35, 38, 40. Tick them off and count them.

After this, Bad-Luck Baz continued his downward spiral, while Clairvoyant Kate went from strength to strength. Her tatty little tent in a Sydney backstreet was replaced by flash new premises close to the airport. The million she won on the lottery became chicken feed compared to the income from her new business. She got a friend to set up a website and sold horoscopes by email. If each of the 50,000 email customers had known about the other 49,999, they would surely have wondered when Kate slept.

Strategies for Dramatically Improving Your Luck

Note: for examples, a 49-ball Lottery is used but the findings are consistent across all Lotteries.

The argument is frequently raised that, for Lotteries,

there is no way you can forecast anything – because anything is possible.

My argument is that, while anything certainly is possible, some things are MORE PROBABLE than

others.

For example, no game - worldwide - has ever drawn six consecutive numbers.

It is highly unusual to even get five consecutive numbers. It is perfectly possible that your Lottery might draw six consecutive numbers next week. BUT - you want to put your money on that possibility?

Or do you want to bet six consecutive numbers will not be drawn.

The argument is also advanced that the Law of Averages means all numbers drawn will even out over time. This is true, but the “over time” bit is interesting. A weekly draw means 52 draws a year. Divide the 13,983,816 combinations in a 49-ball game by 52 weeks – and you can see it takes over 250,000 years to draw all possible combinations!

An entry that is “balanced” in terms of short-term trends, playing as many numbers as possible, in a

highly organized manner, is the most logical way to play.

So how do we achieve balance in our sets?

1. Keep the Odds and Evens balanced. In theory, roughly one-third (33.30%) of the 13,983,816 possible combinations in a 49-ball Lotto are 3even-3odd (if you wrote out all 13,983,816 possible combinations, 4,655,200 (33.30%) would be 3even-3odd). In practice, over 300 draws to June 1999, the following results emerged:

• UK 49-ball Lottery – 32.0%• Florida 49-ball Lottery – 33.7%• Canadian 49-ball Lottery – 35.3%

Taking games that ended 3-3, 2-4 or 4-2 covered between 77.0% and 80.7 for the three Lotteries above. As you can see, putting 9 odd numbers or 9 even numbers in your 10 would be a disaster. All odd or all even get drawn less than twice in every 100 draws (on average).

Keep around 50% of the numbers in each set even and 50% odd. If you play 10 numbers that include 5 odd numbers and 5 even numbers - then no game can be all even numbers and no game can be all odd numbers. You maximise the 3-odd/3-even and 2-4 / 4-2 games; which is the smartest way to play, because it imitates what happens in the real world.

2. Keep the Highs and Lows balanced. Again, in theory, one-third (33.30%) of the 13,983,816 possible combinations in a 49-ball Lotto are 3high-3low. In practice, over 300 draws to June 1999, the following results emerged:

• UK 49-ball Lottery – 33.0%• Florida 49-ball Lottery – 36.0%• Canadian 49-ball Lottery – 32.0%

The variation in the total games that ended 3-3, 2-4 or 4-2 was between 78.7% and 80.7% for the three Lotteries above. Whether we are talking Odds and Evens or Highs and Lows, clearly around 80% of the winners are either 3-3, 2-4 or 4-2. Keep around 50% of the numbers in each set high and 50% low.

You can take this concept further if you wish. For a 49-ball game, keep roughly 1/3 of the numbers in the 1-16, 17-32, 33-49 segments.

3. Consecutive Numbers. In theory, a 49-ball Lottery will have slightly over 50% of the combinations with no consecutive numbers and almost 39% have only two consecutive numbers.

Of the 13,983,816 combinations, 12,489,092 are either no consecutive numbers or only two consecutive numbers.

In practice, over 300 draws to June 1999, the following results emerged:

• UK 49-ball Lottery – 54.0% No Consecutives 38.7% 2 Consecutives

•Florida 49-ball Lottery – 52.0% No Consecutives40.0% 2 Consecutives

•Canadian 49-ball Lottery – 47.3% No Consecutives 44.3% 2 Consecutives

To keep balance in your games, limit how many consecutive numbers you have.

4. Repeats from the previous Draw. If you are playing the same numbers every week, there is not much that you can do about this. If you are playing one-off entries (eg, a SuperDraw or a large Jackpot) it is a factor to be taken into account. The following results can be obtained from our chosen 49-ball Lotteries:

• UK 49-ball Lottery – 46.7% No Repeats37.7% 1 Repeat

LONG-TERM AND SHORT-TERM CONSIDERATIONS

By now you may have recognized that :

• Some trends are Short-Term, eg, How many weeks between Draws that have, for example, no consecutive numbers and

• Some trends are more Long-Term, ie, the frequency of individual numbers.

It is a little like playing a roulette wheel. Backing Odd or Even gets you very low odds because both come out so often. Back individual numbers and you get the longest odds, because they come out far less frequently (compared to Odd or Even).

In Lotto, players tend to follow numbers.

Very few people follow Short-Term trends.

Perhaps you should become one of them.

Why is it important to play System Entries?

What benefits do you get?

To understand this, let us look at the maximum wins paid out for different full System entries. The table below shows how effective – or otherwise – full systems are at paying out for winning games if you have all six winning numbers and your Lottery pays out on 3 winning numbers.

Not only does a System 7 pay out for every game you pay for, it does so at a very high level. Similarly, all the wins for a System 8 are 6-number, 5-number or 4-number wins. If you think about it, if a System 8 has 6 winning numbers, it can only have - at most - two losing numbers in any game played. Therefore every game played must have at least 4 winning numbers.

Similarly, a System 9 pays out on 100% of the games you pay for in a Lottery that pays out on 3 balls (Payback percentages table appears below).

System entries – whether Full or Reduced Guarantee – maximise the winnings possible from any given entry. But how efficient are Full System Entries anyway? Let’s look first at “Payback %’s.”

A System 12 pays out on 71.6% of the games played – but 60% of the winning games are 3-number wins. If your Lottery payouts start from 4 winning numbers, only 28.3% of the games you have paid for are winners.

For a System 15, less than 50% of the games you pay for, pay you. This drops to below 12% for a lottery paying out on 4 or more winning numbers.

A system 20 pays out 8,730 times out of 38,760 games in total, or 22.5%. Looked at another way, 30,030 games you pay for cannot possibly win. It gets real scary if your Lottery only pays out from 4 winning numbers onward; over 96% of the games you pay for cannot possibly be winners - even when you have 6 winning numbers among your 20.

Note also that the increases from System 7 to System 20 are all 5-number, 4-number or 3-number wins. No matter how big your System Entry is - it can only include one 6-number win. ALL THE ADDITIONAL WINS YOU PAY FOR ARE MINOR PRIZES.

SYSTEM ENTRY "WINNING NUMBER SPREAD FACTOR"

Now let’s look at the “Spread Factor.” By this I mean the number of Systems you can play for a given amount of money - and the number of times they can be used to cover the full spread of numbers in that Lottery.

Consider the following extract, adapted from "Winning Lotto - Secrets The Experts Don't Want You To Know."

THE "GUARANTEED WINNING NUMBERS STRATEGY" - AND WHY YOU SHOULD NOT PLAY LARGE, FULL LOTTO SYSTEMS

‘Cos there’s only ever a maximum of 8 numbers drawn, including bonus (supplementary) numbers. Seriously, think about it. A System 20 has to include a MINIMUM of 12 totally useless numbers - 14 in a Lottery that draws only 6 main numbers and no bonus numbers! Most people think they could win Lotto if they could afford a System 20. There are lots of high-rolling Syndicate members that will tell you, ‘taint so.

But look at the alternatives to a normal System 20. The Table below uses multiple Systems that roughly equate to the 38,760 games in a System 20 and is based on a 45-ball Lottery –

Assuming for a moment you play all 45 numbers evenly, then -• 13 x System 14’s guarantees 32 Winning Numbers overall;

• 182 x System 10’s guarantees 320 Winning Numbers overall; (Based on an Australian Lottery drawing 6 main balls + 2 bonus balls)

Obviously, this Strategy can be adapted to any Lottery.

Champions of the System 20 will tell you "It gives you twice the chance of getting all six winning numbers, compared to a System 10." This is the truth, but not the whole truth. To effectively compare a System 20 with a System 10, you have to take account of cost. The absolute truth is that you have to compare a System 20 (38,760 games) with over 180* System 10's (210 games each).

*184 System 10's if you divide 38,760 games by 210 games. However, if you divide the cost of a System 20 by the cost of a System 10, it becomes 182 System 10's, due to extra agent’s commission.

Assuming 180 System 10's, you mark 1,800 numbers. Dividing 1,800 numbers by 45 (the number of balls in Australian Lotto), you can play all 45 numbers 40 times. With 8 balls drawn in total (6 main + 2 bonus / supplementary), you end up with 320 GUARANTEED WINNING NUMBERS in your overall entry.

Now to the guarantee bit. The conventional way of looking at guarantees is simplistic. It states that if you have all 6 winning numbers in your 20 numbers, you have First Prize. Similarly, if you have all 6 winning numbers in your 10 numbers, you have First Prize. However, by playing multiple System Entries covering all the numbers, you come up with the "LottoMasta Guaranteed Winning Numbers Strategy" (320 Guaranteed Winning Numbers for multiple System 10’s in the above example).

The direct comparison then is:• ONE System 20 - which gives no guarantee of 6 winning numbers, and may not win any prize at all or,• 180+ System 10's that guarantee 320 winning numbers (if played systematically) somewhere in your overall entry. While there is no absolute guarantee of a win here either, consider this: With 320 winning numbers, spread over 180 entries, how unlucky would you be not to get 4 or 5 winning numbers within a single System 10?

The Conventional Wisdom is ….. "Play as a big a System Entry as you can afford. We suggest that's

dead wrong!

If I was running a Syndicate that could afford a System 20 (38,760 games), I would recommend to Members playing one of the following:

• Seven different System 15's - 105 numbers in total• Thirteen different System 14's - 182 numbers in total• Forty Two different System 12's - 504 numbers in total• One Hundred & Eighty Two System 10's - 1,820 numbers in total

All for around the same cost as playing one set of 20 numbers.

At a more realistic level, let's say your Syndicate has around $1,000 to spend. Your choices (at a $1 per game) are:

• One System 12 - $924 12 Numbers Played• Two System 11's - $924 22 Numbers Played• Five System 10's - $1,050 50 Numbers Played• Twelve System 9's - $1,008 84 Numbers Played

You might still go for one System 12 - but Members should do the calculations and make a considered decision. My personal choice would be Five System 10's, covering all the numbers.

A further choice is whether to play FULL Systems or REDUCED-GUARANTEE Systems. The Table over the page helps you with this decision. Many will still favor Full Systems - but again, make a considered judgement, measure results, and don't be afraid to experiment. Our Lottery Club considers results annually and has tried various options, including Reduced-Guarantee Systems.

Finally, note how quickly games build up in full systems (see table over) –

10 numbers requires 210 games,

12 numbers 924 games,

15 numbers 5,005 games, and so on.

APPLYING REDUCED SYSTEM TECHNIQUES

A major advantage of Reduced Guarantee Systems is that they do not compound, or grow, as quickly as Full Systems. The table below shows the rate at which various systems grow as you play more numbers.

A full System 10 requires 210 games – but a System 20 requires a massive 38,760 games. If you are happy with a guarantee that covers all 5-number combinations (usually referred to as a 5-from-5 System), 10 numbers requires 52 combinations and 20 numbers requires 2,900 combinations.

Using a guarantee that covers all 4-number combinations (usually referred to as a 4-from-4 System), 10 numbers requires 22 combinations and 20 numbers requires 408 combinations.

Massive reductions in cost are available, whilst still retaining a

guarantee.

An alternative way of looking at the choices you now have, is that you can choose to play 14 numbers in a full system (3003 games) or 20 numbers with all 5-number combinations covered (2900 games) – or even 3,000 random games. Your chance of First Prize is around 3,000 chances out of 8,145,060 (45-ball Lottery) or around 3,000 chances out of 13, 983,816 (49-ball Lottery) whichever way you choose to play.

The advantage of the LottoMasta 20-number, 5-from-5 system, is a significant improvement in your chances of winning the smaller

prizes; you play almost 50% more numbers, knowing all 5-number combinations are covered.

Lottery Strategies should be two-fold – • Aiming for the big one plus

• Recovering as much of your stake money as possible each week through regular smaller wins.

Australian Lottery Syndicates –

The Answer to Your Dreams ?

Because of my privileged position, I can run lottery clubs and syndicates that are able to play expensive, multiple, full system entries.

For most people, this is not an option. They want to play alone and thus cannot afford full multiple system entries, or they lack the contacts and organisational skills to put together a group entry.

At present, I run two different types of syndicate/lotto club. The first are regular weekly entries in NSW Monday Night Lottery and the National Saturday Night Lottery. I view these group entries as both the smartest way to play and also to pool the collective experience and ideas of all the players.

We review our syndicates once a year, and more often than not we will try a different approach. Our original approach (in the days when NSW Lotto was a 44-ball game) was to play two sets of 22 Numbers. Each set of 22 Numbers was organised so that if we had four winning numbers, they would be together in at least one line. The NSW Lotto drew six main balls and also two supplementaries; the very worst split we could have was four winning numbers in each set of 22 - thus guaranteeing us a win of some kind every single week.

This syndicate won a prize for 62 consecutive weeks. Despite this, we decided to try a different approach, as we have done most years. We have tried 50 full system 8’s, which has been reasonably successful. Likewise, our entry of 20 full system 9’s has been reasonably successful. We also tried eight full system 10’s, which surprisingly did not deliver results as good as the system 8’s or system 9’s.

Apart from this regular weekly entry, we play larger entries for the special Super Draws that are held every 8-10 weeks.

Australian Lotteries are Lump-Sum Payouts and Winnings are Tax-Free (In Australia).

Saturday Night Australian Lottery Super Draws are held every 8 to 10 weeks. Prizes can vary from $16 million up to $30 million. The Superdraw held at the end of each year is usually around $30 million, and during the year $15 million to $20 million.
