    To Ukraine & Back:

    Updates from our Vision Trip

    Many of you have probably

been wondering about our vision trip that

was mentioned in our first newsletter.Well, its been a busy few months, weve

been to Ukraine and back, and are now

ready to take the next steps toward the

    fieldin Kiev!

    We experienced missionary life

in Kiev from October 20-27. We stayed

with The McKenneys, a SEND mission-

ary family, for the week. They had a lot

planned for us in one week! We were

able to visit Kiev Christian Academy and

talk with the headmaster and quite a few

of the teachers. We visited Kiev Theo-

logical Seminary and a local youth event.Of course, sightseeing was on the list,

too! Cassie also helped Mrs. McKenney

host a tea party for the some of the

Ukrainian ladies of her church. The

    McKenneys scheduled several dinner

events and meetings for us to meet othermissionaries from the SEND team. We

felt a very warm welcome from all of the

missionaries we met, which is something

that is comforting when you are halfway

    around the world from home!

    Our trip was necessary because

our vision and the reality of the field

were quite not the same. Our calling has

been affirmed through our experiences in

the bustling city of Kiev. We were able

to see ourselves in the big picture of the

Lords work there. Both of us will be

taking language classes for the first twoyears in Kiev. After that, we have sev-

eral exciting options available to both of

us to serve the Lords people in Ukraine.

What does it take to get to Kiev?

SEND gives each missionary family a financial requirement chart based on the size of the family,

projected dates of service, and economy in the country of service. To get to the field, we need your help in

    the following areas.

Monthly Expenses: On a monthly basis, we will need $6583. This money will go towards our salary, work

expenses, insurance, retirement, and SEND-related operations.

Pre-field and Outgoing Expenses: This account covers our training sessions through SEND, travel arrange-

ments to Kiev, freight, language school tuition, and advance setup for our expenses on the field. Our pro-

    jected expenses are $68,720.

Prayer Partners: Missionaries are extensions of the people who send them. We need a team of at least 30

prayer warriors who will support us through prayer and encouragement in all stages of the missions process.

If you feel led to partner with this ministry, please fill out the enclosed form or contact us. Our

greatest financial need is for monthly supporters. Any money that you promise prior to us going to the field

(either monthly support or one-time gifts) will accumulate in the outgoing expenses account until it is 100%

funded. Once we are on the field, all funds that you have designated as monthly support will start being

applied accordingly. If you have any questions about the funding process, please contact us or SEND using

the contact information on the front of this letter. In addition, if you have a small group, Sunday school

class, or church home that would like to hear more about our ministry, please contact us!

Is there any reason why you wont consider being a part of the Lords work by partnering with us

to reach the people of Kiev?

    Praises & PrayeRequests

    Praise the Lord for our

    vision trip and affirmation of

    calling to Kiev

    Praise the Lord for the

    Christmas season, the birth

of the Son, and the ultimate

    gift of saving grace

Pray for gusto as we start

    partner development and

    begin sharing our ministry

    plans with potential partners

    Pray for time management

    between jobs and partner

    development; wisdom in

    pre-field decision making

Contributions are solicited with the understanding that the donee organization has complete discretion and control over the use of all donated funds.

It has been a busy year for us, but there areblessings all around. Andy continues to work part-time atVictory Noll in Huntington as a driver. Victory Noll is aconvent for nuns of the Our Lady of Victory MissionarySisters order. He takes them to appointments and sometimesthe airport. The average age of the Sisters is 85, and thereare approximately 90 women who call VN their home. Andyenjoys their fun spirits and stories of their younger years andservice on the mission field.

I recently got a job as a special education teacherat Flint Springs Elementary in Huntington. I was hired atthe end of November and am contracted until the end of thisschool year. Flint Springs was in need of another resourceteacher due to the number of students on the caseload. I work with an-

other resource teacher and four instructional assistants. Flint Springs ian excellent school, and I have very much enjoyed my first month withthe students and staff. I am excited about the opportunity to gain moreexperience in teaching before heading to the mission field.

We hope you and your family celebrated a joyous ChristmasMay you be reminded of the saving grace of our Lord throughout thecoming year. We wish you blessings of peace, love, and joy as we refleon the miracle of Jesus birth.
