Hancock is one of the oldest settlements in Western Maryland. The town was named after Edward Joseph Hancock, Jr. who was considered a hero in the American Revolution who fought alongside General George Washington. Hancock is the site of one of the earliest Civil War Battles and where the Union forces repulsed Stonewall Jackson’s attack from across the Potomac. Visit our Museum and Visitors center to learn about our Civil War history, the orchard industry, the Sidling Hill Geology Exhibit and more. TownofHancock.org

The Point of Rocks (Baltimore & Ohio) Railroad Station (c.1876) is one of the most photographed train stations in the nation.
Point of Rocks is still a small country town and continues to serve as a convenient travel crossroads location, boasting a peaceful setting along the Potomac River in the shadow of Catoctin Mountain.
Nearby attractions include the Point of Rocks Train Station, a boat ramp, and historic canal structures such as a pivot bridge, lock houses and the Catoctin Aqueduct. In late September each year, the community celebrates its annual Art at the Point Festival, which showcases art, music and children activities, and features running events along the canal.
