In January 2017, former state Sen. Mike Brubaker and his wife, Cindy Brubaker, were honored  twith an Essence of Humanity Award at the 29th annual Martin Luther King Jr. Breakfast which was held at the Alumni Sports & Fitness Center at Franklin & Marshall College.

The  Brubakers host an annual dinner every year to raise money to support six organizations, including the Philhaven behavioral healthcare facility in central Pennsylvania. By supporting initiatives that meet the mission of helping local youth in need, the Ryan C. Brubaker Foundation promotes open communication on issues that save lives.
