FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE MIKA MODIGGARD’S MINDFUL SPIRIT IS RELEASED WITH HER COLLECTION The emerging Swedish designer takes charge with an inspiring launch party ___________________________________________________________________________ Berlin, February 2011 – The Berlin based Swedish designer Mika Modiggard is launching her Second in Command collection in Berlin on February 24. The event will take place at Pale Blue Eyes , a distinguished shop specialising in cutting edge Swedish fashion designers. The event will begin at 7:30pm, with music by Amtrack and DJ People ’ s Champion, a video presentation of the collection, as well as a unique interactive manner of presenting the clothes. The concept behind the event is based on the theme of integrity and safety, which are the primary elements of the Second in Command collection. It refers to the designer’s ability to adapt to Berlin, a city that she perceives as both dynamic and inspiring. Shades of blacks and greys reflect the designer’s internal dilemma with the city, as delicate shapes and forms are confronted and affected by its bleakness. Second in Command thus becomes the visual representation of finding one’s comfort or place in an unknown environment. During this event the viewer can experience the reality of the collection, and be inspired to understand and appreciate the power of being second-in-command. “I wanted to find safety between a combination of military jackets and tiny dresses, resulting in a edgy, yet minimalistic look. For my launch party, I will show material from Stockholm Fashion Week, I will have models interpreting the clothes, and I will also present some unseen accessory pieces”, states Mika Modiggard.
