Looking back to the snow and school closures last year, it is hard to believe that the Spring like warm days we enjoyed over half term and last week were at the same time of year in February 2018. The second half term at school has started in a very positive way. On Monday 25 th February the children involved in the performance at Snape took part in a workshop, which was an exciting and fabulous opportunity for all the children. This was followed by an amazing evening at Snape Concert Hall on Tuesday 5 th March. I, together with Governors, parents, friends and staff from the School, were so proud of our children, who opened the concert and set the bar high for the rest of the evening. As one Governor summed up, “This clearly shows the reason why this school is Outstanding.” A recording of the performance is now available to view on our school website. A great big “thank you” to Mr Eden, Mr Winkworth and Mrs Bickers for inspiring the children to achieve such high standards.

What a difference a year makes! Looking back to

the snow and school closures last year, it is hard to

believe that the Spring like warm days we enjoyed

over half term and last week were at the same time

of year in February 2018.

The second half term at school has started in a very positive way. This was followed by an amazing evening at Snape Concert Hall on Tuesday 5th March. We were extremely pleased and proud to be recognised as an “Excellent” Primary School after our SIAMS inspection on 5th February. I hope you enjoyed reading the report which clearly sums up all that we are about in our roles here at Worlingham CEVC Primary. Key Findings:

The inspirational leadership of the Headteacher, supported by dedicated staff and able governors, has led to an inclusive Christian community in which the vision is clearly at the heart of the school and lived out daily enabling all adults and children to flourish.

The highly effective impact of the vision is clear in all areas of school development. It motivates and inspires pupils and adults including parents.

The vision drives exceptionally nurturing relationships based on core values of love, respect and compassion, evidenced in the exemplary behaviour.

Collective worship is creative, inspirational and inclusive, providing opportunities to worship in a variety of ways including through song. It facilitates exceptional spiritual growth in pupils and adults. Together with the high-quality religious education (RE) provision, it supports and develops the vision and values.

The vision and values are the foundation from which all pupils are enabled to achieve their potential spiritually, academically and socially. They have a strong impact on pupils’ highly positive attitudes to each other, to life and to their learning.

Bishop Mike led Collective Worship on Tuesday 26th February. He talked about his role as a Bishop and May Smith (Y6) was dressed up in his symbolic items of dress, clearly depicting his own image of God and the responsibilities and duties which are expected of him.

Parents Evenings

It was great to see so

many of you at our two

parents evenings. The

opportunity for you to

discuss and share in

your child’s progress is

such an important part

of our partnership

working.

On Thursday 7th March, we

enjoyed celebrating World

Book Day. The children and

staff looked brilliant dressed

up as book characters.

The morning began with a lovely assembly, where all the amazing

book characters could be shared and the staff team read extracts

from the Mr Men and Little Miss Books by Roger Hargreaves.

During the day the children took part in a range of activities to

celebrate the day and also shared their favourite stories.

To continue our love of reading we look forward to welcoming

author and comedian James Campbell to school on

Wednesday 13th March.

Our second

Badminton

tournament

was a real

success. The

Year 5 team

participated

and all pairs

played

extremely well.

Great smashes,

drops and

clearances

throughout.
