8th Writing: Two weeks left to work hard until winter break! With such limited time, we are continuing
to push through the The Book Thief. I encourage you to talk to you student what they are learning
about the power of words, what it means to be a true friend, and why people do the right thing even
when it is not popular. This book teaches kids so many beautiful principles, and is a great discussion
starter.
Students can expect one or two take home assignments this week. Additionally, all students received a
final exam study guide on Friday, Dec. 4th and should begin studying for our final which will be on
Monday, Dec 14th. Specifically, their test will include an in class writing prompt. Students are allowed
to do all the thinking/prewriting before they come to the exam, and I am encouraging to spend signifi-
cant outside time preparing so that the exam itself is a breeze.
