Principal’s Message
Dear Parents,
Congratulations
on surviving the win-
ter! Although it be-
gan early and ended
late, we finally seem
to have some warm
weather. Keeping
this in mind, our
school dress code
prohibits exposure
of any under gar-
ments, straps must
be one inch in width,
and skirts and shorts
must be at least the
length of the middle
finger tip when arms
are fully extended.
Your assistance in
checking on your stu-
dent’s attire before
school is appreciated
Many parents of
incoming 5th graders
attended a parent
panel discussion on
April 28. Thanks to
our parent volun-
teers who answered
many questions about
what it is like to
have a child in the
Middle School. It
was an excellent ex-
change between par-
ents. Next month,
our 5th graders will
host 4th graders for
a visit! Our last PTA
meeting will be May
25 at 7:00 pm.
Please come and help
us plan for next year.
We are in the ini-
tial stages of devel-
oping class lists for
2010-2011. If you
have concerns re-
garding your child's
placement for next
year, please submit
them in writing to
Mrs. Turner in the
Middle School Of-
fice by May 16, 2011.
We do not honor
teacher requests.
We also do not honor
team non-requests.
Students entering
seventh grade are
placed in home rooms
alphabetically.
Please make note
of the events listed
on the district and
Middle School Mes-
senger calendar.
Concerts and the Art
Show are listed.
We appreciate
your continued sup-
port for having stu-
dents in school and
on time. Attendance
is a key component
for academic suc-
cess.
Please contact us
if you have any ques-
tions or concerns.
Yours truly,
Jean J. Regan, Ed.D.

They have a 2 week window after their birthday to legally remain in school.

Spring greetings from the Health Of-
fice! There has been much less illness this
winter. There have been approximately 10
cases of the “real flu”, this is less than pre-
vious years. Strep throat is still being diag-
nosed but seems to have slowed down.
There are various stomach bugs, and viruses
with fevers, but overall the Middle School
is quite healthy. Allergies are beginning to
cause problems and there is an increase in
injuries, abrasions, bug bites and rashes, so
my office is probably going to get busier.
Happily, I have most of my vision and hear-
ing screenings completed.
Please remind your children of the ne-
cessity of sunscreen, bug repellent, bike
helmets for biking and skating, and to avoid
wild or stray animals as the threat of rabies
still exists. Please be sure I have an Epi
Health Office Hype
Pen in the Health Office if your child has
bee sting or severe food allergies.
ALL students entering 7th grade
need an up-to-date physical on file in the
Health Office. This is needed to attend
school and to participate in modified sports
(school sport teams that 7th grade stu-
dents can participate on). The front and
back of the form must be completed and
returned to me before the start of school.
It is recommended that you see your family
physician as he/she knows you best. Call
now for an appointment. The school physi-
cian will be here in November to do physi-
cals on those of you without a doctor. Pop
Warner physicals are not accepted. There
are no longer physicals for school sports, so
if your child wants to play on the modified
team they need to see their own doctor this
summer.
Student Leaders the teach-
ers or the
principal.
Our Lead-
ers also
act as rep-
resentatives for their
homerooms to discuss
school wide concerns and
special activities. We meet
regularly to address ideas
in a modified form of stu-
dent government.
Our third group of stu-
dent leaders has been se-
lected. The Student Leader
program is designed to de-
velop student responsibility
by having 7th grade leaders
encourage others to follow
school rules. Student Lead-
ers set, by example and
monitoring, appropriate be-
haviors in the lavatories, on
the playground, and in the
hallways. Any inappropriate
behaviors are reported to
Congratulations to: Mi-
cala Zelinsky, Brittney De-
vendorf, Mason Stehle, Paul
McLaughlin, Jillian Britton
and Emily Kielbasinski.
