(including NC) for English/Language Arts/Literacy & Math
Essential Standards = State Curriculum for all other content areas
(including the Arts) that replaces the NC Standard Course of Study

Review the Reading Literature Standards for either grade 7 or grades 9/10 and consider using the Arts Links, adapting, or making your own. This sheet has been attached to the original email regarding this Dept. Chair Mtg.
This tool can be used to help students identify Textual Evidence to support their analysis of what the text says explicitly as well as inferences

Remember:•All Arts Courses can be repeated for credit(including Honors level - no limit on Honors as in previous years)
•Any level 3 & 4 Arts courses is inherently honors because of its rigor - regular level 3 & 4 no longer exist

Placement Assessment Work Groups
4/18/12
The following representatives will be working on the 18th to identify placement assessments that will help support the new course designations. They will also have an opportunity to “translate” the current pacing guides for level I courses into course guides that reflect the new essential standards.
