From Your Pastor Then the people rejoiced because they had given willingly, for with a whole heart they had offered freely to the Lord. David the king also rejoiced greatly.” 1 Chronicles 29:9 This morning I was working on a sermon on the joy of giving. In Acts 20:35 we have a record of Jesus saying, “It is more blessed to give than receive.” Over the years I have found some of the great- est blessings have been the result of giving to meet the needs of others. While I write that, I must admit that when a need presents itself I sometimes have a begrudging feeling in regards to giving. The Lord has had to do a lot of work in my life in regards to giving but I am so thankful for what He has taught me. This Sunday we will have an extra opportunity to give towards the FLC debt. I don’t want anybody to feel overly burdened about giving a little extra this week. I wasn’t here when the FLC was built but I get to see firsthand the many uses and ministries that we are able to provide by having the FLC. Just last week DCA was able to have their Kindergarten graduation and reception in the FLC. We use it every week to reach so many children in our community. Up- ward Basketball and Cheerleading is a blessing to so many in our com- munity. Every week we get requests to utilize the FLC for family re- unions, birthday parties, homeschool events, and many other impor- tant events. Knowing all the ministry opportunities we have with the FLC it gives me some extra joy to give a little extra to pay towards the FLC debt. While I think about all the opportunities the FLC affords us, I also think about the money that goes toward the FLC debt each year. I think about some of the other ministries and missions we could do and support with that money. So, I don’t want anybody to take away from their regular giving to the church because your weekly giving is vital to LBC’s ongoing ministries. But if you are able, I want you to enjoy the blessings of giving a little extra to help us pay down this debt. We owe about $345K. I’d love for us to get the FLC paid off in 2017. A little extra along the way will help us pay this off in the next few years. I hope you can make a little extra sacrifice on Sun- day and I hope we continue to praise the Lord for the blessing this building has been to us as a church and community! Bro Harold MAY 27, 2015

From Your Pastor

Then the people rejoiced because they had given willingly, for with a whole heart they had offered freely to the Lord. David the

king also rejoiced greatly.” 1 Chronicles 29:9

This morning I was working on a sermon on the joy of giving. In

Acts 20:35 we have a record of Jesus saying, “It is more blessed to

give than receive.” Over the years I have found some of the great-

est blessings have been the result of giving to meet the needs of

others. While I write that, I must admit that when a need presents

itself I sometimes have a begrudging feeling in regards to giving.

The Lord has had to do a lot of work in my life in regards to giving

but I am so thankful for what He has taught me.

This Sunday we will have an extra opportunity to give towards

the FLC debt. I don’t want anybody to feel overly burdened about

giving a little extra this week. I wasn’t here when the FLC was built

but I get to see firsthand the many uses and ministries that we are

able to provide by having the FLC. Just last week DCA was able to

have their Kindergarten graduation and reception in the FLC. We

use it every week to reach so many children in our community. Up-

ward Basketball and Cheerleading is a blessing to so many in our com-

munity. Every week we get requests to utilize the FLC for family re-

unions, birthday parties, homeschool events, and many other impor-

tant events.

Knowing all the ministry opportunities we have with the FLC it

gives me some extra joy to give a little extra to pay towards the FLC

debt. While I think about all the opportunities the FLC affords us, I

also think about the money that goes toward the FLC debt each year.

I think about some of the other ministries and missions we could do

and support with that money. So, I don’t want anybody to take away

from their regular giving to the church because your weekly giving is

vital to LBC’s ongoing ministries. But if you are able, I want you to

enjoy the blessings of giving a little extra to help us pay down this

debt. We owe about $345K. I’d love for us to get the FLC paid off

in 2017. A little extra along the way will help us pay this off in the

next few years. I hope you can make a little extra sacrifice on Sun-

day and I hope we continue to praise the Lord for the blessing this

building has been to us as a church and community! Bro Harold

MAKING DISCIPLES…

Question 15: What are God’s works of providence?

Answer: God’s works of providence are the holy, wise, and powerful acts by which he deserves and governs all his creatures, and all their actions.

Scripture: Nehemiah 9:6; Col. 1:17; Hebrews 1:3; Psalm 103:19; Matt.10:29-30

Comment: Is there such a thing as luck in a world ruled by the providence of God? “The lot is cast into the lap, but the decision is wholly from the Lord” (Proverbs 16:33). You will also need to stress that many of God’s acts of providence may not look “holy and wise” (for example, storms that kill thousands of people). God’s has His secret purposes (Deuteronomy 29:29) and we know that the Judge of all the earth always does right (Genesis 18:25).
