HAPPILYEVER

AFTER

The Happily Ever After Bridal Fair is not your average kind of wedding expo! Stepping away from the traditional wedding expo format, Happily Ever After follows the latest trend in bridal fairs where guests are invited to attend the event as if it were a real wedding.

Set within the rustic walls of the Wauchope Show Ground Hall, brides and visitors will be given the opportunity to see how a real wedding would look when set up in the following themes:

A Country RomanceLove in the VinesRainforest RendezvousGarden Party

A ceremony and reception set up will be created for each theme. Each set up will be a creative collaboration by a team of local wedding vendors consisting of a stylist, florist, hire company, cake decorator, stationer and photographer.

The focus of each set up will be to provide couples with loads of inspiration and unique and creative styling ideas for their own ceremony and reception. We also hope to showcase the diversity of our region and the very best that our local wedding industry has to offer.

This year will also see the inclusion of our one of a kind Handmade Wedding Market where brides can find and purchase unique and creative handmade or bespoke pieces for their wedding day. There will also be live music, amazing food and beverages from local caterers, wine makers, breweries and coffee suppliers just to add a festival touch!

Brides will each be given a gift bag on entry to the bridal fair that will be filled with special offers and discounts from our exhibiting vendors as well as a copy of issue 2 of the Mid North Coast Weddings Magazine.

T H E P R O P O S A LHayley and Jimmy and their little boy Pheonix were walking along the beach watching the beautiful sunrise, as they reached the top of the headland Jimmy dropped to one knee and opened a tiny little box that had the most beautiful 1920's vintage white gold diamond ring inside! Hayley was speechless, but finally stuttered a YES!

T H E D R E S S Hayley’s dress was designed and made

by her cousin Taylor Gooley. Only having a vague idea of what she wanted

her wedding dress to look like both Hayley and Taylor spent an afternoon

sketching and designing an initial concept. Hayley had every faith that Taylor would create the dress of her

dreams and after only one fitting Hayley wasn't disappointed, it was everything

she had dreamed of and more.

T H E C E R E M O N YHayley and Jimmy knew that they wanted a ceremony that was an amazing celebration of love, surrounded by family and close friends! The celebrant, a close friend of the couple who had known them both since high school, created a unique ceremony just for Hayley and Jimmy that was filled with touching stories and heartfelt wedding vows. There were tears, laughter and best of all lots of love.

T H E R E C E P T I O NThe reception took place in the beautiful country town of Gleniffer. The only thing that was important to Hayley and Jimmy when it came to their wedding day was friends, family and a party! They loved the idea of a picnic style wedding with rugs and baskets full of cheese and wine, friends mingling and celebrating and of course an awesome dance floor! Jimmy organised everything, from designing personalised wine labels to handwritten chalk boards and ultimately styled the most incredible rustic picnic wedding ever. It was a family affair with Hayley’s sister creating the floral arrangements, her brother making wooden crates for picnic tables, her best friends made jams for favors and helped the couple put together the invites.

The perfect wedding vehicle with style

Love busKOMBIS

The journey to your wedding ceremony may be one of the most emotional and nerve-wracking of your life and the trip to your venue is no exception. You want to enjoy this part of your day in style and comfort, while making it as memorable as possible. With that in mind Love Bus Kombis may be just what you are looking for.

Owner Mitchell Montgomery has lovingly restored a 15 window split screen Volkswagen Kombi, the Love Bus, Magnolia and together she is matched with the highest level of chauffeuring etiquette and customer service, making your special occasion fun and truly memorable.

Always utilised for great acts of kindness and love Magnolia was purchased by Mitchell from a village in South Africa where she used to ferry local orphaned children to school each day until she retired and was in need of some TLC. She

has since started a new chapter in her life as the Love Bus and is the first in the fleet with a new partner waiting in the wings.

It had been Mitchell’s vision for five years while he restored his kombi to create a business that allowed him to use this beautiful car and share it with others. Mitchell’s passion for kombis, surfing and the beach, combined with his easy going nature and ability to connect with people from all walks of life are the contributing factors to the success of the business.

‘We take pride in making your occasion very special’ Mitchell enthuses. ‘Great care with attention to detail is our focus and tailoring our services to meet your needs on the day is our top priority. Arriving by Kombi is cool, classy and fun’ he said.

The Love Bus is available for weddings and special occasions. Just imagine travelling to your dream beach wedding in an authentic Kombi wedding car, rocking

up to the school formal or debutante ball in the most unique vehicle, or touring the local wine region on a bespoke tour with friends in 1970s vintage style. Your special occasion is sure to be filled with fun, laughter and loads of Kombi magic!

Special packages for proposals are also available. Your proposal can be made even more memorable travelling to a beautiful secluded part of nature with a gourmet hamper and champagne, and what better way to continue your story by having Magnolia back on your wedding day.

Located in Port Macquarie the Love Bus services an area ranging from Coffs Harbour in the north to the Pacific Palms Blueys Beach area south of Foster. The Love Bus is also affiliated with a companion service in Coffs Harbour, adding another two beautiful kombis to the fleet, which services Coffs Harbour through to Byron Bay. Together they have the entire Mid North Coast covered.

For bookings contact Mitchell and Sue on 0466 158 059 or 0413 277 563. All enquiries will be responded to within 24 hours. You can see Magnolia in all her glory atwww.lovebuskombis.com.au

Natural foliage along with a colour palette of marsala tones and wild florals inspired the decor for this shoot. A floral swing gracefully suspended, a stunning

T H E P R O P O S A LJust two days after their first year anniversary, Paul asked Sanaz to go out with him for a belated anniversary dinner. After dinner, they decided to take a walk along the river in South Bank where they eventually found a cozy spot to sit down and take in the night sky and city lights which was quite romantic. A few minutes later, Paul showed Sanaz a ring and said “look what I found”, she thought he had found it on the ground. “I actually bought this for you”, Paul said, and then popped the question. Completely in shock and with tears in her eyes Sanaz said a resounding YES!

Page 38: Mid North Coast Weddings Magazine Issue 2

{ 38 }

T H E D R E S SSanaz had been looking for wedding dresses for a few months so when the day

came to go dress shopping with her bridesmaids she had some idea of what she wanted. What she had in mind was something simple and modern but definitely not strapless! After trying on a number of dresses that day and still without any

luck she began to lose hope of ever finding her dream dress. Giving it one last attempt she came across a skirt that she liked. It was so far from what she had in mind that she wasn't sure she should try it on. Sanaz decided to try the skirt with, of all things, a strapless bodice and as soon as she put them on she fell in

love and the search was over. All the bridesmaids agreed the gorgeous ensemble was definitely the one for Sanaz.

T H E C E R E M O N YPaul and Sanaz's ceremony and reception were held at Roses Vineyard just outside of Port Macquarie. Sanaz arrived at the vineyard in a convertible Mercedes followed by a duo of Jags that were transporting her bridesmaids. The ceremony was conducted under a rustic looking ceremonial arch decorated with beautiful flowers and green foliage over looking the beautiful vines and Innes Lake. There were around 50 guests, made up of family and close friends many of whom had traveled from interstate/overseas to be part of their big day. It was important for Paula and Sanaz to remember their family on their special day especially those grandparents who were no longer with them. They decided to create and actual family tree where they made portraits of their parents and grandparents in a frame and hung them from a tree in the grounds of the vineyard for everyone to see.

T H E R E C E P T I O NThe reception was in the onsite marquee at Rose’s Vineyard. Paul and his groomsmen were in charge of setting up the reception and doing the final touches. Sanaz was so excited to see the reception set up with all of the little details that she stole a moment from the ceremony to take a peek and was stunned at how perfect everything looked. What she saw was ivory organza and fairy lights running through the marquee, white chair covers with ivory organza chair sashes, loose bunches of white and peach peonies, lissianthus, freesia and roses with green foliage in brass vase on the tables and tea-light candles that made the marquee look so elegant and romantic. The highlight was the floral chandelier that hung from the ceiling of the marquee which was a lovely surprise from their florist.

T H E P R O P O S A LFor Christmas Chelsea surprised Aled with tickets to Bali. On the first morning of their stay Aled was up at first light and pestering Chelsea to come and see a surprise that he had picked up at the airport. Suffering from a little jet lag Chelsea reluctantly got out of bed and went downstairs to where Aled was. Aled was standing on the balcony overlooking the ocean, wearing a singlet, board shorts and a little red bow tie! On the table was a gorgeous bouquet of red roses and 4 photos sorted into a timeline from when they first started dating to the present day. Aled told Chelsea to slowly turn each photograph over and as she did the words read Will, You, Marry, Me? Of course she said YES!

T H E D R E S SChelsea’s dress was called Pippin by Watters and was purchased from Marry Me Bridal in Mosman. Chelsea had always envisioned her dress to be very bohemian, something loose fitting and flowy! As soon as she walked into the bridal store and saw the mermaid style dress with beaded lace detail, she fell in love. It was the first and only dress she tried on as she knew instantly that it was going to be her dress. Chelsea matched the Watters gown with a gorgeous white cathedral veil.

T H E C E R E M O N YHaving already attended a couple of weddings at the Green Cathedral both Aled and Chelsea knew that this was going to be their ceremony location of choice. They both loved the relaxed

bohemian vibe and how the location provided the most beautiful back drop for their pictures.

T H E R E C E P T I O NAled and Chelsea’s reception was held at the Sundowner in Tiona. They were both drawn to the huge lawn area overlooking the lake where their guests could play vintage lawn games! They hired vintage lounges, industrial style chairs and decorated their tables with gold glittered vases filled with loose bunches of flowers. A giant love sign was also hired as a backdrop for photos and guests were treated to a Mr Whippy Van that served ice creams and sundaes for desert. Guests were given personalized handmade candles and caramel bon bons for a thank you gift.

Cheese wheelW E D D I N G C A K E

So cake might be up there among our very favourite things, but we reckon cheese makes a firm case for second place. And luckily for us, cheese wheel wedding cakes have never been so popular. From a creamy brie or a punchy blue to a smokey cheddar, cheese can add a refined yet rustic foodie feel to your wedding. Adorned in grapes and figs or berries and flowers, cheese wheels make a quirky alternative to your wedding cake, or a chic twist on your typical dessert or late night snack.

H I N T S A N D T I P S

• Make sure your wedding cake has a good balance and contrast of cheese types (hard, soft, blue), flavours, colours, textures and intensities.

• To ensure your guests each get an opportunity to taste all the different cheeses, you might consider choosing a slightly smaller cake and then ordering extra of the cheese that makes up the top few tiers.

• Order well in advance so that your cheese supplier can make sure each of the cheeses is at perfect ripeness on the day of the wedding.

• About 70-100g of cheese per person is ideal for an after-dinner course.  Double that if you are making it the main attraction!

• Make sure the cake is brought out some time before serving, so the cheeses are at room temperature when consumed!

The ProposalJordan proposed to Ashleigh on a Friday night at their home in Port

Macquarie, his proposal was sweet and modest (just like Jordan). They

called their family and closest friends to share the wonderful news and

then celebrated with them until the early hours of the morning, a night

they will never forget.

The DressAshleigh’s dress was a Maggie Sottero gown purchased at Belle and Beaux in Newcastle. It was everything that Ashleigh had imagined her dream dress would be, from the way it made her feel when she first put it on to the way others looked at her on the wedding day, especially Jordan as she walked down the aisle.

The CeremonyAshleigh and Jordan had their ceremony at a private residence in Sancrox, just 15 mintues drive from the centre of Port Macquarie. The ceremony took place under a special tree the owners had planted when they first moved into the property over 20 years ago.

The ReceptionAshleigh and Jordan’s reception was held on the roof top of the Mercure Centro Hotel in Port Macquarie. The couple chose this particular venue as their wedding took place on New Year’s Eve and the Mercure Centro Hotel has one of the best vantage points for the New Year’s Eve fireworks in Port Macquarie, providing a spectacular end to their day. A cocktail reception allowed guests to mingle and party into the early hours of New Year’s Day.

T H E P R O P O S A LIt was a beautiful winters’ day whilst exploring the west coast, on their way from Perth to Darwin, whilst admiring the rugged

Zuytdorp cliffs overlooking the Indian Ocean, Sean got down on one knee and surprised Amy. Sean proposed with a beautiful

custom made opal and diamond ring creating a special moment they will remember for the rest of their lives.

T H E D R E S SAmy’s dress was designed and made by Maggie Sottero, a mermaid style, ivory gown with silver embroidery and sparkling beads finished with a scalloped illusion neckline. “I felt absolutely stunning from the moment I tried it on, friends and family told me all night how beautiful the dress was and how they had never seen anything like it” Amy delightfully recalls.

T H E C E R E M O N YAmy and Sean’s ceremony was held at the beautiful and secluded Little Bay in South West Rocks. It was with sun in their eyes and sand between their toes under a gorgeous arbour adorned with Australian native flowers, surrounded by friends, family, Pandanus trees and kangaroos when Amy and Sean said their vows.

T H E R E C E P T I O NThe reception was set amongst stunning spring gardens at Ashdon B&B in Arakoon, under a marquee decorated with fairy lights and lanterns. While the bridal party had their pictures taken the guests enjoyed canapés, Black Duck Brewery beer and Amy’s homemade cocktails. The actual reception had a very casual feel to it with long tables decorated beautifully once again with garlands of Australian native flowers. There was an informal seating plan to which their guests were free to mingle and enjoy their delicious spit roast dinner provided by Crackle 'n Spit. The wedding cake was created by the very talented Trish Jackson and was 3 layers of chocolate, caramel-choc and white chocolate mud cake that was enjoyed by all. They surprised their guests with a fireworks display after the speeches topping off a magical day.
